my pdoc suggested that i try to change my schedule to help myself out of my depression. not to sleep in and shut out sunlight. to tell you the truth, i've never liked that much sunlight in my whole life. it sucks the energy right out of me. i understand that sunlight is essential to all living beings. but, i've always been a nocturnal. i've tried to stick with the the daylight in the last couple of weeks, and it sucks horribly. nothing could bring me down lower than all that daylight. i feel so hopeless. so unfixable.

(((((wings)))))

Never tried changing schedule, but I usually keep (or try to) fairly "normal" hours. Maybe you should give it a shot (maybe for a week so you have time to adjust). It might not help, but it hopefully want make things any worse?

It may be that sunlight is too intense for your mood. But it's kind of a vicious circle -- no sunlight, worse mood, which means you avoid sunlight, etc.

Doctors say that we need at least 40 minutes of sunlight to function as biological beings. Maybe you can commit to a short period of time at a time when the sun is not full blast. Early morning or late afternoon. Then once your body gets used to sunlight it will be easier to be in it. Just a thought.

Yes, I agree with the post above. You should not pass from nocturnal life to sunny life. I have been a nightly person for the first part of my life. Now that I had to work on depression I am chenaing my mind, and a gloomy day puts me down like anybody else. But I still avoid sunbathing... I prefer to walk on the shadow sidewalk, to wear a cap, and to stai pale as I've always been. But living during the day is better. I really believe it. So my advice is to keep trying. Don't exaggerate but keep trying.

The best of luck
