hi.

so, what i wanted to post this thread for was to ask for suggestions of how to stop mild suicidal thoughts from intensifying.

mild thoughts i can deal with (i'm sort of still with it, still together), but before i know it- i findm yself dealing with a lot more than just "mild thoughts", something a lot bigger and a lot more serious.

I need to know good ways of stopping them when they are just mild, or at least keeping them mild

I struggle with this too

I guess when you notice that you are getting mild thoughts you should try to do somethig to distract yourself so they don't develop into something more. That could be anything from listening to your favourite music, watching a film, other things you might enjoy.

I used to have a whole list of distraction techniques but lost it unfortunately.
Thanks for this!

Just found the list online, you might find it helpful

http://www.nshn.co.uk/downloads/Distractions.pdf

The first page is mainly for self harm but the rest could be used for anything

Dear Shattered sanity,
I refer to this:
How To Help Yourself Get Through Depression on a Day-To-Day Basis
Everyone on this forum does #11; I do #13 everyday.
It's a bit late in the day for me to consume caffeine but because I am a bit down and know it's not healthy to lie in bed: I'm currently drinking coffee and eating a high quality, very dark chocolate bar. Chocolate makes me happy!
I hope you start feeling better!
Thanks for this!

thanks.

I am surprised that these methods (or any methods) arn't posted as a sticky here.

I mean you have in the self harm section the distractions, but not here.

think I might do some work, go through what you just posted and post them here

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
