I think it is time for me to shut my feelings regarding helping others near me. I've been kind helping others to be kind, but I think I've been trying to prove my worth in hopes of finding someone who accepts me. I'm only demeaning and fooling myself into thinking it is possible. I have to try thinking of myself and it won't be easy being it's always been about others. I've wasted too much time taking care of others and not myself. The question I ask and set out to find the answer for is.....Am I too late?

It is hard for me to do. It was beaten into my head, literally, all through my growing up. I have had it through my adult life as well. Constantly being taken advantage of, ostracized because I'm disabled and outcast even from family because I don't value money or possessions. I still deal with the mistake of getting out of the Army, the one and only place I felt I've belonged. I had to take care of people at a very young age, my brothers, and it is so ingrained in me to take care of others because they matter more.

When I was first realizing that loving myself was the first to any kind of joyful, healthy life, I faked it. Have you thought what loving yourself might even look like? Never, ever, ever too late. Here's what it takes- time, patience, practice.
