I don't know what the problem is with me right now. This is an unusual thing for me.

I very very rarely have issues with anxiety. Yet for the last couple of weeks it has become a regular occurrence. And with it I'm getting very agitated. And I'm struggling to deal with it.

The only way I have found to ease it is alcohol and self harm. Not healthy I know.

I just feel so on edge all of the time and by the evening I can't keep it in check.

I don't know what to do...

To be honest, anxiety very seldom comes out of nowhere. It has a core source. Depression can be that core source, sometimes. You've been talking about how you're on a downward spiral and I think that could have a lot to do with it, presently. There are certain breathing and grounding techniques that work for me.

(Breathe with your stomach, not your chest) Inhale, 1-2-3-4. Hold, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8. Exhale, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7.

It's a good technique for fighting a panic attack, along with counting colors, sounds, textures and what-not around you. I also make myself a "logic list", if you will. It's a 't' chart, one side is my anxiety and the other side is compacted of logical reasoning. That helps for simple general anxiety. Ultimately, though, the goal is to find outlets and such that help you to feel safe. The safer you feel, the less anxiety can do it's damage.

How are you doing? Do you still feel anxious? Maybe you're just having a stressful period. Have you talked about it with your doctor?

So leigheas gave some good advice - please keep sharing, we're here to help

Thanks. I think you are probably right, it's just something that doesn't normally happen. I will try those techniques

Still anxious. Hit as soon as I woke up this morning.

No doctor as yet, haven't seen mine since August, and not due to for another 6 weeks either. I'm trying to speed that up but apparently she's pretty booked up so will just have to deal I guess.

Check out my new thread ...

I suppose the "correct" advice is to consult a GP.... just to be sure nothing else is going on
