Update again: all my chores are done. Not spick and span, but the carpet is vacuumed, the bed is made, the dishes are done, the laundry is done, clothes are put away...it's respectable.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here in the same dirty house trying to get the motivation to write the 600 word paper I have to finish tonight and fighting off the headache that's quite possibly a migraine. I did, however, throw two loads of laundry in. Might run some dishes through the dishwasher.

Good job on cleaning the house.

Seesaw welldone ♥♥♥ See now you have got a respectable house.
thanks for starting this thread, you have motivated me. Yesterday I vacuumed down stairs and did a load of ironing.... today I'm hoping to vacuum the upstairs. The 15 minute timer thing really helps!
Before I know it I have made some progress and its a nice feeling of success! You really can get quite a bit done in 15 minutes. Break things down into small jobs and try the 15 minute thing everyone, it really can help.... come on you can do it!
Seesaw it must have been very difficult living with an OCD roommate and made you feel even worse. It's not good for you to think of her as an example of normal cleanliness!
Have a nice time with your friend. ♥♥♥
Thanks for this!

Thank you, all. Yes, the 15 minute timer thing totally helped. And also, it's the first thing I do when I get home from work. I just immediately pick a chore to do and do it before I can question my.motivation or anything. I have also been trying to.make sure that stuff actually goes into the trash (makes a big difference) and clothes go into the hamper (another huge difference). Sometimes little efforts make a big difference apparently.
