September 12TH, I finally took many of you all's advice and I saw my college counselor. He told me I might have depression and to have my parents to make me an appointment with our family doc. Well, I go home and tell my dad, but he blows me off by saying Im not depression, and if I am its just college and I am trying to find my way. THAT F@#$$%%^&&** HURT MY FEELINGS I TRY TO TELL MY DAD THAT I HAVE BEEN EMOTIONALLY NUMB FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS, AND HE SAYS THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME. F&*^ HIM!!!!!!
That really hurt, and now I keep imaging me slitting my wrist. Maybe there is nothing wrong with me, maybe I just imaged being emotionally numb for almost two f&*^$#@$ years!!!

(((((lelem)))))) i'm so sorry that you're dad reacted badly to you asking for help. he obviously has no clue whatsoever that depression exists. have you talked to your mom? i know this is hard, especially when your dad reacted the way he did. you deserve to get the help that you need. and we're here for you. wishing you the best.

I am sorry your dad reacted so inappropriately. Many people don't understand the feelings of depression and the effects it can have on someone. I hope that you can talk to him and that he understands what you are telling him. As you know the feelings are real and need to be addressed to heal. Take care.

Thank you all so much, I needed to hear that. I have not talked to my mom yet, and by the way my dad acted, I dont know if I want to talk to my mom.

Hello ((Lelem)). If you are 18 years old you can get county mental health treatment without the consent of your parents. You can go see a Dr without the consent of your parents as well. I would not let your parents stop you from getting the help you need. If you are in the United states then you can get very affordable mental health treatment from the county mental Health in your county. There are also Free medication Programs that your therapist can help you get meds for free since you are a student and probably are low income at this time your meds will probably be free. Try to think about things you can do yourself this is Your problem and you may have to get the help you need yourself at 18, if your parents are not willing to cooperate with your needs at this time. If you need help finding a therapist or county Mental Health just PM, I will be glad to help you if I can. Take care (((LELEM))). soidhonia
