What do people do when they are on Medicaid, chronically depressed and in a downward spiral? No, your 25 yo recent MSW grad is not going to be helpful for me and I am quite sure that the end of October to see a med shrink is asking a bit much - given the fact that I am a walking nervous breakdown. Call a hotline - no, I am NOT suicidal; though I think life is wasted on me I do have responsibilities so NO it is not an option. So, get back in line with our newest recent grad who will show off her new counseling skills without a ****ing clue about life - yours, hers, anyones. Meanwhile, I am seriously dying inside. My blood pressure is through the roof, I hyperventilate a zillion times a day, and generally every ****ing soul-destroying situation you can think of is my every day. But I am invisible because i will not lie and say I am suicidal.

I'm sorry you're having a tough time. My therapist is a tdoc but I went through 10-12 therapists (including MSW) before I found one worth her weight in gold. I also think October is way too long to wait. Is there anything you can do about getting it moved up? I admire your honesty in not saying you're suicidal when you're not. Take it from someone who has nearly constant SI (and responsibilities)....that is one blessing you have. I hope things start looking up for you. Best wishes.

You might at least try the MSW.
My therapist only has a Master's in SW and is a LCSW, and he is fantastic.
Sometimes, they can surprise you...
It's really about the person -- less so the degree.
I'm sorry that you are struggling

Sounds so very challenging!

Have you told this to your GP/Primary Care doctor?
Maybe s/he could help by prescribing, referring and otherwise?

Please take good care of yourself and don't give up.
