May I ask? Alcohol has a lot of sugar and even those that are not sugar induced are huge triggers of depression. So?
alcohol and caffeine are not good for my depression...but I do it...

Hi Desiree. When I am on a diet here is what I do about cravings: Promise yourself you can have that pastry or chocolate on a designated day. For example, follow your diet every day, but promise yourself you can have one dessert on Sunday. It is not as frustrating as just cutting something out. Once a week won't interfere with your diet. Just be careful not to go overboard. I tend to do that. lol

I also think that my brain has been damaged by my use of anti-depressants...I hope it is not permanent....that would screw up recovery if my serotonin system is changed...

I think the brain can recover...unless a lot of brain cells are desroyed and the cell destruction/death is spreading. But I may be wrong......

I suppose a lot of drugs can damage the brain, along with other organs or systems. As for me, I have been on and off of ADs for 30 years and I much prefer the good they do me, over what might have become of me without them. I have never suspected brain damage, as I still have the same interests and talents I always had. I'm getting old (or will one day ) and some things naturally decline with age. If anything major has changed while taking them, it's for the better. I'm in a good mood, content, hope to live a long time. Much better than the alternative.

If you suspect they have damaged your brain, then you need to decide for yourself if you want to take them or not. As far as I know, no one is forcing ADs.
