Hello and welcome to psych central
![]() Lots of people here have trouble sleeping. I used to before I got treatment from a psychiatrist and put on meds for bipolar. Now I sleep like a baby. I don't know anything about your situation. Have you talked to your doctor about this or tried any meds for sleeping. People who have biploar tend to switch back and forth from sleeping a lot to not sleeping much at all. There are many things that could be effecting your sleep.

I've been having trouble sleeping since I was a teenager. I also have sleep paralysis and other parasomnias so that doesn't help. It's very hard for me to fall asleep, stay asleep, and to fall back to sleep once I've woken up.
Now I take Seroquel and that works great! I tried Klonopin before but that made me extremely depressed. Definitely talk to your doctor. Maybe they can give you a sleeping aid that can also help with your mood, so you'll be taking care of 2 things at once. |

This happened to me too last night. I normally sleep a lot, but I was up until 3am last night. My sleep schedule is all messed up.

Yes, particularly since stopping Mirtazipine.
Recently been trying melatonin - helps me get to sleep most nights and get a few hours but not unbroken and occasionally still doesn't work Promethazine really knocks me out and gives me a good night but I am reluctant to take it for prolonged periods due to it's side effects (particularly concerned about the risk of extrapyramidal side effects), plus it gives me a hangover. However it's Ok once in a while if I really need to catch up on sleep. Zopiclone is a banned substance for me as I was tempted to misuse it. Would love to be able to legally access cannabis as that used to be great (to eat not smoke) |
