Today I saw a new pdoc. She was quite nice, and actually talked about things related to mental illness, like asked questions about my mood and such, unlike my last pdoc, so I liked her much better. The only thing about what she said was wrong about not being able to have social anxiety and ASD at the same time, which you can, but I didn't correct her, as I'm told that's not polite and that it doesn't really matter in the end.

But anyways, when I asked what my diagnosis were/are, she actually told me, which I was happy about, as people expect me to read between the lines, which I don't like 80% of the time.

Anyways, I'm told I have recurrent MDD... I'm happy to know this by an official person. I didn't realize the recurrent part, but it makes sense. I'm not happy about the fact that I have a 90% of having another episode after this one apparently, because this is my third episode, maybe more, I'm not too sure.

I really needed closure for myself; that I'm not faking things and that there is something wrong with my brain that is making me this way, and not something else. Closure feels good.

Nike - I’m so pleased for you that you have a pdoc that you like and that you got closure. I know how you’ve struggled. Good luck in tackling this and good luck with school. Best wishes.
Thanks for this!

I am happy for you that you had a good experience with your Pdoc, and that you got a diagnosis that makes sense to you. I have MDD too, and believe it is the recurrent kind. Best wishes to you~

I'm glad to hear this. Having a good pdoc or tdoc that you relate well to is so helpful.

I've had persistent depressive disorder (used to be called dysthymia) for a long time, with bouts of major depressive disorder from time to time. I know it sounds scary. But it's not guaranteed. The most important take-away is that you can be aware of it, and minimize or even avoid any possible relapses. And maintain contact with professionals and people who can help you, so you have a support network ready to nip any potential relapses in the bud.

By the by, I've had psychiatric evaluation reports that were sent back to my GP printed out for me by my doctor.

Anyways, once again, I'm glad this went well for you.
Thanks for this!
