One of my biggest obstacles I have with depression is showering. I hate showering, always have with my depression; and when the depression is severe it's nightmarish to force myself to get into the shower and then find the will to scrub a dub.
I haven't "scrub a dubbed" showered in two weeks, not since the falling out with my best friend, and though I'm overdue for an all-over shave, I scrub a dubbed twice, washed my hair twice, and set my hair in conditioner for as long as I could bare. My hair is so silky and clean now, and I feel so refreshed. I'm all snuggly in a robe and beanie and I feel really good about myself. Showering is really hard for me mentally, but it's such a nice feeling once I'm out and clean. <333 |

I completely agree. Life maintenance. Complete waste of time, except I also love being clean. Bacteria can totally screw up your life. Keep fighting to get to the shower, I feel you!!

I very much resonated with this, personal hygiene care is a massive hurdle when I’m depressed. I’m semi-fortunate as my wife will push and prompt me, but it is a struggle

Wow, I can sooo identify. Even when I'm not depressed, I only take one shower a week. Granted, I don't work out or do anything to get overly dirty, so I don't think daily showers are necessary. I'm starting to not want to brush my teeth either. That's really not good because I've spent a lot of money on my smile. I wonder if this is all due to laziness since I'm not depressed.
It's good to focus on the positive...feeling clean and nurturing yourself. |

Yes, it does feel good to finally get all nice and clean. I struggle too. I shower once a week and wash up in between. Sometimes I'll just wash up instead of a shower. But showers make me feel better.
