How do you convince someone the world is round when they KNOW it's flat?

I have thought of bringing this up many times and I never do. I believe, no I know, I'm a worthless piece of trash. People on here and other places say things like No you're not. Youre a kindhear person. They are either saying that to be nice or don't know the real me.

Just keep telling yourself you're not worthless. Think about the last time someone said something so outrageous and stupid it made you laugh. That's how I feel about that. I'm not worthless. Haha don't make me laugh. You know you are a low life POS.

If you just goto a therapist they will help you with that. I'm too paranoid (for good reason) to trust someone and tell them about my problems. I can point out time and time again when at best nothing came of it.

So how does one convince me of something I know beyond any doubt that it's not true? Like I said if I believed the world is flat, how do you convince me its not.

The short answer is I cannot. Anyone that does not respond to reasonable arguments, that is deeply entrenched in a belief, whether valid or invalid, arguments and reasons do not usually change someone's mind. Someone has to be open to change and willing to sacrifice their cherished belief to hear other possibilities.

Too often a person who refuses to be open minded cannot be reached by reason when their beliefs are based on deep-seated emotions.

Pictures and videos and scientific facts and evidence show that the Earth is not flat. It’s factual information. If people don’t believe facts, then you can’t do anything about it. There’s a big difference between facts and beliefs/opinions. As long as people understand the difference it’s all good. The problems start when people don’t grasp the difference

I'd just try to not think about it, and focus on a healthy lifestyle. Whatever 'demons' we have inside of ourselves are our own challenges, let's say.

And secondly you could try what I do, which is a kind of self created 'leveling the playing field' technique that says, if I'm a pos then everyone is, because I guarantee you practically everyone in this world is doing something highly dubious in terms of the health of the whole and/or the planet(!) So that's a reason to try to go higher. Personal goal.

So those are a couple of ideas of my own Humpty Dumpty.🙏

Well I know it was a metaphor. I got lazy to continue with my line of thought. Earth is not flat is a fact and is easy to prove. How we feel about ourselves isn’t a fact but a complex net of beliefs and opinions etc Much harder to convince anyone with a lack of tangible factual proofs. Even I know you aren’t a pos, it’s harder to prove because my thought about you are also mostly opinions and beliefs, not facts. It’s subjective. Earth is not flat isn’t subjective

As long as you have that attitude nobody can convince you of anything. Additionally with that attitude you will only “see” what fits your “feeling” and beliefs. There’s a tendency to block out anything that does not fit your world view. It’s called psychological projection.

My life changed for the better once i accepted that i was a POS - that i didnt keep my commitments, that i was generally unreliable even though i would do a good job to satisfy myself, oh - lots of other things. And yes i blame my parents who were terrible role models and liars themselves and actively discouraged me from doing well.

But finally the pressure of thinking i am perfect has stopped. So - make amends and try to luve a peaceful life and help others when you can and try not to be a pain in the butt.

The earth is not flat cause it has hills, and also the pictures from space show that it's curved.

If the earth was flat, there would not be hills. Or mountains.

It took a lot of convincing to give Columbus money to find out if the Earth was flat or round. It's like when someone tells me I have a mental disorder do I trust they're judgement and believe them or do I go about my life as if I have no disorder?
