I feel so sad, anxious, frustrated...

I have to have power enough to go on... my son needs me more than ever before.

I want to crawl up in a corner and just let the tears flow. At the same time I want to be like the lion mother protecting her cub no matter what it takes. If I only could regain some power to go on...

I somethings play the tape forward and imagine my kids posting on a forum such as this someday in the future because they had a mother that couldn't work through her pain...thats what gives me the drive to want to remedy my problems so I can give them a chance?

That's a good way of motivating oneself... but in this case... it's not about my own issues but about my son's. It's such a struggle helping him right now.

Remember you have to look after yourself too, in order to be able to look after your son. Sometimes doing something small that's nice for ourselves can go a long way towards making life seem more liveable and it's challenges more manageable.

I know this is a really trivial example but when I was at my most depressed, out of work, and struggling to get sober, I made a point of going out for a nice coffee every day. It forced me to get up, get dressed, leave the house and interact with people. And somehow that little coffee helped make the day more manageable.

What can you do in the way of self care?

Day, Sorry I'm not aware of your situation with you son. In that case I have nothing to add. Perhaps caregivers forum would be able to offer you support?
