Sannah, thanks for the post...the narcissism is my own feeling of "I should be the one able to fix this mess, since I am a good psychologist...no one as good or as smart as me." I don't really think that, but that sort of comes out in analysis as competition with the analyst and has taken quite a long time to let my autonomy go and let her help me with out having my intelligence and competence threatened...or at least I am trying. Hard to do when depressed, apparently...any other suggestions out there?

Hi Hcab, the first thought that comes to my mind is that your ego might be on the weak side to admit that you are not perfect? I remember when I strengthened my ego enough to the point where I didn't have to be perfect or right all the time. What liberation that was!
