You could tell them what you just told us.

I thought I wouldn't have anything to say to the counsellor at my sixth form.. but always found that once I started, things just seemed to flow.

I was afraid to go to the school therapist.

I eventually went.
My advice to you, is that going to them can't hurt you in the way you're afraid of. You don't need to know what to say. It's their job to help you - they'll help you know what to say. Even saying I've been having a rough time and I don't know what to do gives them alot to work with. Even just showing up does too.
Don't expect going to make everything magically better because it won't. For me, I waited till the last moment to go. I wish I had gone sooner. By the time I got there, I really was in crisis. They could have done so much more if I had gone sooner.

PLEASE try going, it could help and all it can do is use up maybe and hour of your time. You never know, it could help.

Also, keep in mind that school therapists have their uses, but dont be upset if they don't do what you need. Keep in mind that going to a therapist not school related might be more beneficial IN THE LONG RUN.

But please, for now, try it?
I wish I had earlier - I know you don't know me, but I have been in your shoes, and if I were able to give myself advice when I was at where i think you are now, I would tell myself the same.

loads of hugs
and hope all goes well with you

(ps you can pm me anytime if you want )

I agree that maybe you should give the school counselor a try, I was terrified that I wouldn't know what to say when I started therapy but eventually things came naturally.

one step at a time, one breath at a time... you've come here.. thats a great first step.. read and think over the others opinions.. find something that works for you and go from there... check out some of the other resources here at PC and see if anything helps you..

i did a search for you on parents and teens with depression.. maybe something will help if you click on the link i hope...

(((Brookie)))

You can make a happier time for yourself by opening up to others, whether they are here, or the G.C. at school, or at a local church, or youth center ... you can figure out what will work best for you by checking this stuff out.

I am glad you are sharing with us.

It helps a little, doesn't it?

Please keep posting. Something about this sharing concept really works. The ideas others have, and the reinforcement and support you can gain, are priceless!

My best to you. May your day get brighter!

Love and Support,
nightbird
