i am wondering what happens with MDD if left untreated ..
i also have other things but this one concerns me the most right now ..because my husband was cut from his job position and our insurance with it .. we do not know when another job will come .. in the meantime we are biding time in our home hoping and praying we do not loose it .. we were victims of the auto crisis. i cannot work due to my mental illness's ... or i would be. i cannot take anti depressant meds because they reverse effect on me making life worse. i have been through the list of them to know this. in the meantime .. the stress is becoming unbearable at times obviously. without insurance or a job i cannot get medical help in any area. just wondering the course of MDD .. anyone know? ![]() |

untreated MDD tends to relapse. and the more episodes, the more frequent it is that you will relapse.
i'm surprised that not one anti-depressant has helped you - that it has, in fact, made your life "worse". have you tried meds for anxiety? mood stabilisers? anti-psychotics? |

this situation sucks big time ..the not knowing what the future holds for us.. just trying to hold on and be patient as much as i can. sometimes i throw myself into house type work and other times i sit and stare and wonder ..drifting off alot through the day .. when i am not working i take many naps through the day to pass the time.. this is such a difficult time ..with no warning this was going to happen it came as a shock and at the worst time of year to try to find employment. we rushed the holidays to hurry them so that we can get on with our life and back on our feet before our home is taken from us. sorry for the ramble just needed to talk. |

Have you talked to your pdoc about asking the drug companies for free meds? They have some programs where they will provide them at no charge to you. Your pdoc could help you fill out the paperwork and send it in for you. It is worth a try.

Hi
I'm new here today, but really feel for you. Ask your pc doc for samples and also to fill out the paper work for free Rx drugs. It is a process that takes time. It is based on your income mostly. But if pc doc won't do it, find one that will. Be you own best advocate. I know that is hard when no money is coming in or not enough money and depression are involved. I've been on antidepression meds for about 10 years and went off to see what "normal" felt like in Feb. It was a bad thing for me with relapse! I'm not sure I am back to a "normal" for me yet on the new med (Pexeva) but I won't go off again because I know that no medication for me really sucks! Let us know how you are doing. Take care of yourself ![]() |

i can only take one medication that does not bother me too much and it is for anxiety ... all anti depression/anti psychotics do not work for me at all...that make everything bad for me. MDD i am concerned about because i cannot be treated for it medication wise. .and now otherwise. . i was just wondering the course of this illness . |

You don't mention where you live, but in California there is the Department of Mental Health that could assist you if you are unable to pay. There are also some county programs. It maybe beneficial to call a help line or something like that to find out if there are options available to you.
Untreated major depressive episodes are very serious and require treatment especially to prevent relapse. I am sorry that you are in such a situation. |
