i am a mac computer user and i use optimism software to help as part of managing the triggers of my depression. I want to quickly note for other macusers that optimism software is being promoted at macupdate right now.
i think it is ground breaking that mental health related software for clients has become this mainstream so suddenly.
the software allows a week for a free trial in the shareware tradition. those who opt-in with macupdate can purchase in the next day or so for half off as part of the promotion.
i won't spam you with urls. i am sure that if this interests you that you can find macupdate anyway.
if you want to try to manage your depression this winter maybe you might ask your T. if software like this can help you both get a handle on your problem.
in my case finding the right mixture of meds was critical. but using this software did stop things from getting out of hand in the bad times because i was cognitive.
have a happy new year!

Thanks for this!

WOW, what an amazing thing to have developed! I don't have a Mac, but perhaps they will adapt it for other PC's like they've done with other software.

checked out the website (thankyou!) and apparently a windows version is available.

i've found good old pen/paper mood diaries are sufficient for me, but could be useful for others will less stable moods.

it is software that lets you log and share your symptoms with professionals. it can print reports of your sleep schedule, emotional triggers, etc.
using optimism software can help you on a regime of managing your symptoms and triggers for depression. it can help you be proactive in your recovery. of course that takes work. owning this software of itself won't make you depression-free anymore than merely owning anti-virus software secures a computer---you have to use it and try to understand what it can do for you.
you can visit the website and download a trial version for free.
(i have already included a link in a previous post in this thread. please go there and click!)
