It happens so slowly that I don't realize it. I have stopped feeling for the most part.... again. Sure, there are those that I care about..... but everything is numb again. I cannot motivate myself to do any of the things I need to do. I have listened to a sad song just to feel something again, but it barely helps.
Why does this happen? Why can't I break these cycles? I don't really expect answers to these questions. Sorry. ![]() |

Feeling numb, is kind of the brains way of coping. When emotions get too much to handle the brain can block in order to get through it. Once the feelings come back and get too intense again, the cycle continues.
Try not to worry about it but use distractions, things you know once you enjoyed. Try writing a diary/journal to see if there is a definite pattern to it and share with your therapist. ![]()

That can happen with depression . Share your not feeling with your therapist and doctor. It will pass and there may be things they can do to help you with it.

Are you on any medication? I have heard that sometimes anti-depressants can cause people to not be able to feel - to be numb.

I'm agreeing with Pegasus - it's a coping mechanism.
The feelings are still there, they're just really buried deep down. I hate feeling that way, I really do. But try to remind yourself that it IS temporary. It's EXTREMELY difficult to break any type of cycle, especially if it's going on in your head ![]() Best thing you can do, is when you get whacked down, let yourself be down for a small bit if you need a rest , then get back up. Keep trying, and trust that eventually you will get past it ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, for me personally when I tried to do things I used to love, it would make me more upset because, the feelings weren't there anymore... so you can try doing these things but also be careful

first of all... it's an S SSSSSS!!
![]() It will pass... that's not much comfort, but it will. Try as many distractions in the mean time... even if it doesn't cheer you up, just keep doing things 'cause it's worse to sit and mull it over. Off topic.
I feel in a heartfelt post it really does not matter about spelling. Realize is spelt with a Z Molly. realize - definition of realize by the Free Online Dictionary ... Hugs to all. ![]()

![]() ![]() Anger is a step up from depression, an improvement although it probably doesn't feel like it right now. It is an energy which can be used if channelled. Be safe.

Hi. I'm not going to say I understand, because it's probably different for everybody, but I might feel the same way as you.
I don't feel many emotions anymore, any real ones. Good luck with everything, keep at it! |

*hugs* I hate nothingness - I hate emotion... where do we live
![]() lol x.x would be funny if it weren't so annoying and hard to deal with. Anger is hard, I'm still dealing with that kinda thing, try to let it out in safe ways, like ranting in a journal or post, whacking a pillow even (make sure its on the bed or something soft though) glad you can feel , hope you can feel some more pleasant things soon ![]() ![]()

Hi FIO
To feel nothing is a blessing sometimes when the the feelings that we are suppose to feel would just be to painful for us to bear. The sense of detachment from what others see and we expect ourselves to feel is so often that far off track that we lose ourselves trying to always"feel" normal when in fact it is normal to feel up and down. We can`t live without one or the other and it is such a pain that by the time we are down it is so hard to think we will ever get out of that rut. But it will happen that we all start to rise up to conquer the beast that left us there in the first place. Don`t aim that high to feel happiness/sadness that you feel that you have failed because you have felt none at all but ... For a start feel loved and relieved that people care enough to sit and try to answer some of your questions about life . so with a ![]()
