Hi all,

I'm new here, so this is my first post. I haven't really been diagnosed as having a depression, but I'm currently going through some really rough times in life. Some days I just have absolutely no incentive to do anything I should be doing. It's like I lack any motivation whatsoever. I've noticed that reading a great book can get my juices flowing again.

What kind of activities help you to get a grip on yourself again?

Kind regards,
Koen

PS: the book I'm currently reading is Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman. It's highly recommended and quite apprioriate reading material for people suffering from depression.

Hi, Koen! welcome!

Depression is so hard to deal with in life...whether it's continual or situational. I've found what helps me (naturally) is vigorous walking and eating lots of bread and bread products. i'm recently coming out of a depression, and did these things once again.

i found that, when i'm depressed, my body craves bread & dough. i mentioned that to my old p'doc and my current t and they both said that is not strange at all due to the fact that carbs and bread naturally release more seretonin in the brain (what antidepressants do), as well have sedating qualities.

it's helped me in the past...i eat lots of dough, then have to walk it off Invigorating literature

also, therapy helps so much.

again, it's good to meet you! i hope to hear more from you soon. gl!

Hi Koen,

I read somewhere that great literature always has one basic theme. It is about a character going through great difficulties and overcoming them.

Well, I'll have some of that.

Cheers, Myzen Invigorating literature
