Glipzide, must be like my glyburide I'm thinking. It's supposed to take the sugar out of the blood or something. Big hugs to you Gus, I kind of feel like I've had similar struggles with my doctor. He doesn't really care. It sure seems so. I was so depressed I asked him once, what happens if I just stop taking the medicine. He basically, not even looking at me, said "you'll get dehydrated and die", as he continued walking out the door. I wasn't being stupid, but maybe looking for a doctor that actually cared, as I was explaining my high sugar readings and my shakes and sweating at night. Some days I think of my doc as an idiot. Venting can help. Today I only ate some soup and half sandwich, I don't know why, anxiety is making me lose my appetite I'm guessing, but I have to force myself to eat something soon.

I used to take glyburide an and then metformin. I voluntarily switched over to insulin injections.
I wanted ice cream today (I don't keep it in the house) and texted my daughter to bring some home from work (she is a pharmacy tech at Walmart). Then I texted her to forget about it. I ate some cream cheese instead. I would be fighting highs for hours with the ice cream. |

Yes! Frozen Cool-Whip is good!
I made Keto mug cake for the third night in a row. It doesn't raise my blood sugar crazy high. I like it. |

Hey Guiness, i like your signature. I love Johnny Cash. It's a painful song that has touched me. I remember hearing him when I was little, Sunday morning coming down is my favorite song
Anywhoo, I'm not testing my sugars but I did get low the other night. I ate too many cookies so I added an extra glyburide, not a good idea. Was ok, just sweating. But I'd be smart if I bought some juice for by the bedside. But, my boy was tested and there was concern for his blood sugars, so I don't buy juice often, he'll drink the whole frozen can or bottle. I'm just not able to eat right, I love my coffee lately but it's not good for my nerves. I'm noticing how much my mood is affected by my blood sugar levels though. I hope to get them to normal in the morning again. Take care everyone. |

Quote:
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a mug until melted (about 20-30 seconds), Add to the mug: 2 tablespoons almond flour, 2 teaspoons coconut flour, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (not hot chocolate mix!!!), 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar substitute (I used Pyure baking blend), 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1 large egg. Mix and microwave for 50-60 seconds. This is what I used the first two times I made the cake. My changes: I used 2 tablespoons of coconut oil instead of butter. The butter I have is salted and I thought it was taking away from the 'sweetness.' I used two tablespoons plus one teaspoon of almond flour. I used only 1 teaspoon of coconut flour because it has more carbs than almond flour, that is why I added the additional teaspoon of almond flour to the mix. Instead of using 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, I used 1 1/2 tablespoons. I added an extra teaspoon of baking blend (sugar substitute) to the mix. I microwaved it for 50 seconds. My microwave is 1000 watts. I can look up the calories, carbs, etc. if you need them. There are mug cake recipes online that use liquid sugar substitutes if you prefer to use that. The coconut and almond flour are sold at Walmart. They are a bit expensive but they last a while if you are only using a couple teaspoons and tablespoons. |

has anyone tried the Truvia or Stevia non-sugar sweeteners ? i used to use Truvia in my coffee (about the only place i use sweetener) but it had just a tad of after taste, so i would add a touch of raw sugar (i think it's healthier than processed white sugar). then i decided that was too much trouble and i just started buying the Stevia, which is Truvia with a touch of sugar in it
![]() they are not cheap, but are good for cooking and esp. if you like sweet coffee or tea.

I like Truvia. It is stevia based. I like to use sweetener that has stevia in it.

I like stevia. I find I need more than I do with saccharin or nutrasweet.

I was misdiagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in 2010 at the age of 38. I was put on Metformin, but it had strange effects on me, including severe weight loss. It didn't even make a dent on my diabetes, so I was immediately put on insulin and then referred to an endocrinologist by my new PCP. Once by the fall of 2014, I got to see my endocrinologist and got tested, it was found that I was really a type 1, not a type 2. I had tested positive for the GAD antibodies that were attacking my pancreas. So thankfully, that automatically approved me to get an insulin pump. I got my insulin pump, which I seriously love it because it makes my diabetes management so much easier. Before my pump, I was seriously running out of places to inject due to my fibromyalgia and the fact that I was too thin. Now, I have my weight back. My A1C is about 6.8, which is pretty good. i have other medical issues that I deal with that makes my life utter crap, but I try hard not to let all that get in the way, but it's really hard because there are days when I can't even get out of bed. I'm trying so hard just to live at the fullest, period. I can't really do all that much. My chronic fatigue syndrome is always smacking me upside in the head, pretty much, and that drives me completely nuts. But I keep plugging on as much as I can. And I jump into my little adventures to jumpstart myself. LOL.

Thanks for that recipe, I looked it up online. I'll try your recipe too, since I have the coconut oil. I still didn't get around to making one yet though! Gus, I find my blood sugars don't really go down with exercise, maybe its because I'm not going outside. Housework is exercise to me, but that's because I don't go for walks too much in the winter.
I've tried stevia years ago and I didn't like the taste. I don't like the artificial sweeteners too much. I drink my coffee and tea without sugar. Just a bit of milk and cream. I still think that having high cortisol is part of my problem with blood sugar. I have high cholestoral too... was supposed to get the gallbladder out years ago but it turns out I'm doing fine with it still in. If I need something a bit sweet, I just use plain table sugar. I've been doing better with my eating better foods for me ,so I'm just a bit proud of myself for trying harder. Best wishes to you all. |

thanks for the replies... and i can SO relate to what you said, Wings....
i don't talk about all the other stuff i deal with, like hypoxia and sleep apnea and spinal stenosis, and chronic fatigue (PTSD),,,, it's all just minimized my life for me, so that a simple phone call is a big deal~~

The mug cake. I made it again a few days ago but I used powdered peanut butter in place of the cocoa powder. It was good. I liked it better than with the cocoa powder but it contains more carbs and calories. Just puttin' it out there.

i'm on the hunt for a new M.D. to help me with my diabetes meds. i have finally begun to understand the importance of carbs in my 'peaks and valleys'. i think my body is failing me more and more, and i very much need to get back some control, or at least influence, over my weight. of course, winter used to be my 'exercise season', because the snow forced me to get out and sweep or shovel. this winter we have had so little snow, i haven't gotten my work-outs.
over every mountain is another mountain.... sigh....

I'm not doing well. My sacroiliac joints are hurting again and, not to complain, but i managed to sprain a calf muscle. I did try the keto mug, but couldn't find almond flour. Just rice. It wasn't bad but seemed dry. I used butter not coconut oil.. it was good though. My sugars aren't bad. I'm so tired.
