<<<< 65 here, self-Diagnosed 7+ yrs ago. only one in large extended family~ also have (enzyme deficient) hypoxia (low blood oxygen) and sleep apnea. i was poisoned with psych meds 25 yrs ago, and sustained severe brain damage. i have regained a lot, but am still working on memory, math, and 3 dimensional thinking. i have a terrible case of inertia married to agoraphobia, so i am overweight, under exercised, and on Vitamin D. (and i just love pictures of flowers~!)

I don't have diabetes yet, but I am overweight and eat too much sugar, so I'm afraid I might get Type 2.

So even doing this while watching television has really paid off, and I am much stronger and have less pain. Have gone from narcotics to ES Tylenol. I found I needed two days off to recover so that has been on the weekend. If I don't exercise on Monday- Friday I definitely experience a significant increase in pain. So give something a try that works for you. I did not think my strengthening exercises would be enough to make a difference in blood sugar but it has!!

Thanks for posting the pictures of the canna lilies and the lemons Gus. I did try and post a picture but the gremlins keep on stealing my pictures. Some of the lemons are like grapefruit big and round while others are smaller and have patches on green on them because they don't get enough direct sunlight due to the fact that a massive fig tree blocks the suns rays. I love the really fresh smell from the lemon when I pick them. Pity we can't have a scratch and sniff icon on the computer.
![]() Deejay I am pleased that you have family that will help you out despite what your hubby says. It gets really humid here in the summer and I hate it too. Today is definitely not humid at all. A double lung transplant is a massive deal sounds like your family stepped up when you brother needed it most. It must be special to be part of a big family that care. ![]() My dad had diabetes most of his life and so does my brother so the genetic side of it is there. I have been on Seroquel for many years. It was only when I was inpatient at a psych facility that I was tested for it and it came back positive. It is pretty much well controlled or so my doctor says when he gets the tests done. Pity you can't get that marriage annulled Gus. They would not be very happy together. |

Initial CT scan indicates no metastasis. Initial cancer marker blood test is good too. Of course we won't know for sure til after the biopsy but this is as good news as we could have hoped for at this point
I've been doing a lot of emotional eating. It's like chocolate is my heroin I've eaten so much over the long weekend. Gotta get back on track!

Pleased to hear the early indicators are positive Deejay.
![]() Only went for a 20 min walk today. I had a bit of a clean out of books and candles etc on Monday and took them to the goodwill shop this afternoon. Luckily for me it is just around the corner. Cold here. Raining. |

My goal for the day is to drink as much water as I can up to 48 oz. Think that is one reason why bs is as high as it is; I have a tendency to not drink fluids. Then tonight I'll work outside for a while and a salad for dinner. Feel a little better today. Hope you are all doing well.

The water thing and blood sugar thing is interesting to me. Have you read that somewhere? If anyone reading knows anything about this or can point me to some research, I would be grateful.

I've attended diabetes education class twice. They stressed that diabetics should drink 48 ounces of water daily both times I went. It flushes the system by stimulating the kidneys, makes less stress on the kidneys, and it prevents dehydration. For a large % of diabetics, water consumption reduces blood sugar.

Hi, I don't know how I didn't spot this thread sooner - a great idea for support.
I was diagnosed with diabetes about 10 years ago after gaining weight and getting metabolic syndrome from taking psychiatric medication. I was doing okay until a few months ago when my numbers suddenly shot up! I'm currently trying to get a grip on my appetite which is very challenging because of the psych meds. Hoping to learn from others in a similar situation. |

![]() welcome to the Thread, Lilac~! ![]() ![]() ![]() i know what you mean about the sudden change in bsl's. i am going thru that too... it's very frustrating~! my doc put me on a blood pressure med (Losartan) to help protect my kidneys because i am max'ed out on metformin and glypizide... still, i am battling my appetite, and the higher my blood sugars, the hungrier i feel~! i try to keep my caloric intake down around 1100 /day , average,, but am not making that goal very often lately. i am quite sedentary, and have a slow metabolism, so that doesn't help, either. i do drink a lot of water, tho~! always have, i just like drinking cold water~ ![]() hope to hear more from you, often~ best wishes~ Gus

I bought a book on kindle, "Mini habits for weight loss". The gist of it, he says to like plan to do JUST ONE rep of an exercise, every day. Then youre successful! If you do more, great! If you dont do more, you just do the one tiny thing, you are STILL building a habit.
So the exercise i started out with is, in the morning, before i get out of bed for the last time (yes, having already made a few bathroom runs!), i do the back stretch exercise where you take one knee at a time, bend it and pull it against your chest. I have to adjust it once or twice to push my belly out of the way, and also point my knee in a slightly different direction to stretch different parts of my butt. The first day it was difficult and boring. The second day was not as bad. The third day, honestly it felt like a religious experience. I was like, this must be what yoga is like! Today, i did it quickly and easily, altho my knee is still far from my face! But i found myself bending over to get something off the floor MUCH more easily, so it's paying off. The last couple of nights, ive added "clamshells" while im reading in bed. Thats lying on your side, knees bent, and raising and lowering the top knee/leg, still "connected" at foot (and hip, of course!). 3rd night, again, easier than the first. No change in my blood sugars. Ive only been on weight watchers a couple of weeks, and lost maybe 4 lbs. Better than nothing, but not enough to show results. I pushed out my internists appt to end of july to give myself more time. |

Welcome Lilacsnow. Have to say that Seroquel is no help with blood sugar levels especially when added to a serious case of the munchies. Thanks for the info about the water Candy. I have been feeling extra thirty as of late. It is winter here now so methinks I will put the kettle on and boil some water. Hot water is somehow easier to face than cold. Always love your picture Gus. Keep em coming. ![]() |

![]() i used to joke with my doc (he never laughed) that the only 'exercise' i got was rolling over in bed and jumping up to go to the bathroom.... sometimes i stand around cooking, too... ![]() thanks for that sage advice, Unaluna~! besides not being able to bend my knee (i don't even know how i hurt it), i do sit-ups in bed to adjust my blankets and the heating pad (which it's now getting too warm to use). lately i have been using that word: moldering. but maybe i can think of doing one 'unnecessary' act per day, esp. as i lay in bed most of the time....

Just got half my exercise done. It is way to hot and humid for me! Sometimes I wish to live in Alaska, at least in the summer months.

Fear has over taken me: fear of not getting a good result on Tuesday, fear of being alone at night while spouse is hospitalized, fear that our 19 year old fur baby will not be here when my spouse gets home. I have been doing "kitty hospice" for the last six months, but he is declining fast now. I know it won't happen in the next 3 days, but I am not sure about anything past that.
I have been doing pretty well with all this up until last night and now I am afraid of tonight. Thank God for drugs, when you need them. Day time is not a problem.
