Possum~ i have heard that removal of the gall bladder is often unnecessary, and can have serious consequences to your digestive system. i used an herbal tea, called Licorice Root Tea (which doesn't taste like licorice
![]() anyway, i hope you can find a way to keep you gall bladder, the more our systems are intact, the longer they last ! ![]()

Did a lot of fun activities today and more importantly I did my exercises before I left the house at 10:20 this morning. A small miracle for me. I am hoping I am finding a new workable schedu!e. My pain is so much improved after I do them. One would think I would do them everyday upon rising but morning is tough enough just to wake up.

I like the sound of Licorice Root Tea and I also like Licorice flavour. The more I google it the more I see that gallstones are often only picked up because of ultrasounds for other issues like hernias. If I didnt have the hernia I would be none the wiser about the stones. My Mum did have her gallbladder removed when she was in her 50's because of problems but I still wonder if I am doing the right thing. I also am concerned about having no gallbladder how it will affect my digestive system. Mind you the Surgeon said he had another patient that had theirs removed and that person did lose weight. It's not like I can't afford to drop some poundage. I dunno. ![]() |

Possum if the gall stones are just there but not causing a problem why do anything. One day they MIGHT cause an issue and you can then have surgery when you need it.

The surgeon said that the surgery would be much more complicated if an infection/issue in the gallbladder did arise. Maybe surgeons are quicker to whip things out than taking a less drastic measures. Still got a while to decide. Hmmm.

had to go to the doc, today, to get a liver enzyme blood test, for a new med i'm on (temp); wrote a letter about my Met/Glyp not doing the job, and she put me on a 'sustained release' insulin called Lantus... anyone ever hear of it?
i have to find a way to pick it up this week, not a good time for that.... my cousin, who's been helping me, has her dad's funeral this week. she took care of him for 4 years. for the past year i have been 'helping' her, by using my observational and personal skills to understand what he was going thru. he was in hospice the last 4 month, and had a visiting nurse who didn't explain things to my cousin. he was totally 'out of it, the last 3 months. then she's going to send her mom to stay with her brother and she's taking 6 weeks off! i told her to take 8, but the brother has plans,,, he hasn't been any help, and now he's talking about "OUR" property and money, insurance,,, the DOG. anyway, my little stinkers got in the house this morning just before dawn and woke me up; i had to get up and chase 3 of them out of the house... they didn't put up much of a fuss LOL, one of them is the little Squirrelly who's mother kicked her out of the shed, so now she's living under the house. O.O but what i wanted to ask, also, my BS was 115 at 6 a.m. and i didn't have anything to eat or drink til i got home at 1 p.m., when i retested it was 149! does anyone else have this happen, that exercise makes their blood sugars go UP ?? and also, i feel FAMISHED, ready to cram donuts - hungry... the higher my BS the hungrier i feel.... it's all so strange. i have mixed feelings about using any kind of injectable insulin, but these 'pens' are preloaded, just dial a dose, and jab... i'll try to keep you informed on how it treats me...

I used to take lantus along with regular fast acting insulin. The lantus worked well while it did.

Exercises done two days in a row even with work. Hope I am getting into a routine.Never did I think that 12 hours a week of work could be so time consuming a d disruptive to the exercise schedule. I have clearly lost ground this summer even before I started work because it's been so hot and humid. Weatherman said this will be the hottest August on record.

Gus, I have to ask, who or what are those little stinkers that got into the house? Cats or maybe Skunks
![]() Thanks Marilyn. After I wrote my last post on here I was panicked by it all that I rang my gp and he said that removing the gall bladder was a very reasonable thing to do in my case. Today I learned that the surgeon had sent a letter regarding my hernia and gallstones to my GP, P'doc and Therapist. ![]() ![]() Deejay - Wish I could take a leave from your book and get my exercise in. Yesterday I put the first round of fertilizer on the roses. Stinky but effective. Hope the expected frost didnt get to the new growth too much. I have given up checking my sugar levels. Too hard basket. |

Hi
![]() My wife has type 1 diabetes - as a result she also has end stage renal disease (kidney failure,) gastroparethsis, diabetic retinopathy (currently blind in one eye, but this should be temporary,) steal syndrome, neuropathy, high blood pressure, prolonged QT count, as well as bipolar and anxiety. I poked around here for support when she started dialysis, but didn't find any specific. I don't know a lot about the metabolic related meds, but am knowledgeable about blood sugar, insulin, insulin pumps, other supplies, diabetic ketoacidosis, and related diseases/disorders. (As they relate to my experience, everyone is individual ![]() As a side note, my wife had her gall bladder out a few years ago. I think it was a good idea, because of where it connects in the digestive tract, and how it block, press on, or leak causing disturbance. Especially if it is, or becomes enlarged. Her surgery was able to be done laproscopically (sp? - sry!) so small incision and short recovery time. ![]() |

What a nice welcome, thank you! 😊
My wife is having an extra dialysis treatment this evening, and will go again tomorrow. (She normally goes Tues/Thurs/Sat) She will probably sleep all day Sunday. I have Mon off work, so hopefully we will do a little something fun, even if it's just watch a movie in bed. Sometimes listing all her conditions gives the impression we are seniors, but she is 38, and i am 39, just for reference. Does anyone have Labor Day plans? |

Welcome Gr3tta! I am sure the medical stuff must be a huge stressor for both of you. It's a lot at any age. My LD plans are work and work! That's probably not a bad thing, but one can never be totally certain where human beings are involved in close quarters. A few days of vacation after that!😊

Okay.... I have good news and bad news. The good: I had blood work taken for my upcoming surgery. My glucose reading was 90 (that was still with no medication). The bad news I am trying hard to exercise but i hate to sweat. We have had a record 41+days of oppressive humidity and a record number of 90 degree plus days. This has impacted exercising a d I am physically losing ground. I was stronger two months ago. What to do!? Working is also impacting this....any ideas?? Just heard...5 more days of Florida summer weather this week.....UGH!!!

Hello everyone I am new! Would some of you mind giving me some advice? I have been injured for almost two years and I have been feeling very lonely lately. I live in an area where people highly value exercising, and I feel down I can't participate or attend any fun events/places. I have noticed people aren't very understanding and get bored with my suggestions a Does anyone have suggestions on how I can meet new people where this won't be seen as a nuisance?
