I have been calling Ts all morning, this time when I have left them messages or talked to them on the phone I come right out and say "I need a T who has a ton of experience in DID and someone who is willing to help me further it along and get past my blackouts, not someone who is trying to get rid of it." Needless to say I was having no luck!

I even had one T tell me "I don't think you can get past the blackouts" and another when I said "experience with Dissociative Identity Disorder" she said "How do you say that first word? The d one?" Some Ts today should not be allowed to work! I ended up giving up after 15 phone calls.

So I got a call back from a woman just a bit ago who said she has a large amount of DID experience. She was very kind and when I told her I wanted to get past my blackouts she said she would help me with that. I also told her that I didn't want to "get rid" of DID and she told me "Of course not! All of my patients feel that way, I would never want to get rid of something that is a part of you or someone who lives in your head, that's appauling" (spelling?) I am so happy! She wants to help me and she doesn't want to get rid of them and she has experience also!!!

Only down side is she may not have an appointment for 1-2 months but if that's what it takes I will wait! She has me on the list in case someone drops out though so fingers crossed!!! I'd rather wait 1-2 months for a good T who can help me than waste time with a T who can't or wont!

I'm so happy right now because I'm hopeful now! There is hope for me and I can't wait to meet this woman! I may not have to wait for an extremely long time to meet Becky and that makes me so happy!!! I'm SO excited and just had to share it with everyone!

I am happy for you and I am so glad you were persistant. You deserve a good t and someone who is going to help you. I know what it is like to be somewhere where they just wanted to get rid of instead of to just listen and give everyone a chance to talk.

I now have a t that is very good and understanding. He listens and he does not try to get rid of. In that he has opened the door to trust and the ability for some to come forth.

Knowing that it takes patience and an understanding and belief, that is a big part of it all. I have a friend who stands by me no matter what. She listens and is not judgemental. Others are beginning to trust and come forth.

I wish you all the best with your new t and I hope that she gets you in as soon as possible. I am glad you asked for what you needed and you were finally heard.

This is SO exciting kris! I am so happy and excited for you! She sounds like she knows her "stuff". I hope it will not be 3-4 months but I agree with you it sounds worth the wait.

Thanks to all of you for your comments! I'm so happy right now, lately I was thinking I would have to work on this on my own but now there is hope for me and I'm so happy so thank you for your comments, they have added to my happiness!

And Possum, I have been journaling quite a bit in the last few weeks, it is a great idea though, I'm just not sure if I should show her what I've written and if I do, when I should bring it up to her, but I've been using it to mostly keep track of my DID and schizophrenia and how they've been coming along and what not.

So I've been thinking about this and not sure if it was best so I decided to run it by you... (Sorry I'm 1/2 asleep 1/2 awake and unaware of what the last 30 minutes of "me" consisted of if that makes since... Sorry again 1/2 awake 1/2 asleep...

I am SO eager to meet this woman, to make sure she and I are a good fit and everything... I will wait if I have to but I've been thinking maybe I should keep calling to make sure no one has cancelled that day? Like I call ever day in case there was a cancellation?I don't want to annoy this woman but I am just so darned eager to meet her! Any ideas? Would calling every day be a little obsessive?

What about calling her once and asking if you could have a brief (15 minute) face-to-face to see if you think you guys might be compatible? Maybe ask her if that would be possible so that if it doesn't seem to be a good fit, you can continue to look?

I know for me though, I wouldn't be able to be present during a face-to-face, even if it was longer or shorter so I don't know if this would work for you. It seems to take me many times meeting a person to be able to be present enough to remember any of the meetings outside of knowing I went.

I can understand why you are so eager though. It's exciting to think that there is help out there when we so desperately want it. Good on you for pursuing it. Please keep us posted
