And i will post this in Psy.therapy too since I am in there a lot...
I am taking a college course that is really triggering to me (just now triggered writing my own paper - this is why i had to medically drop it last year) and i really, really need to finish it this year. What happens is, I get in there (online) or am writing my paper - trigger - swap alters or diss- so badly that i then forget i am not only in class, but forget i'm even in school! @_@ I have disability in there already, but what i NEED (thus my question) is if anyone in PC can send a PM every other day or so -like a check-in -and see if I still remember I am in class ![]() This particular course moves VERY quickly and it is so easy to get behind (like last year *sigh*). I am 3 courses from graduating so this is crucial. Anyone?? ![]() ![]()

I would be happy to try, but understand that my memory is nonexistant at the moment.

Some of my alters were stuck in the date/year when they came to be. in that case they were not able to know what I was doing in the here and now. The laundry wasnt getting done, classes werent being attended, going to work wasnt getting done. A friend who is DID also and I tried doing the buddy system to keep each other on track, but because of where my alters were stuck at it didnt work. Ultimately what happened was I had to work extensively with my therapist on learning what the triggers were that caused the problem then call my therapist during those times when I was triggered. My therapist was able to walk me through using therapeutic ways to come out of being triggered. She also during this time scheduled my therapy sessions for twice a week so that we could practice using the triggers and therapetic techniques with her. after a month (8 sessions) of working with my therapist on my class related triggers and therapeutic techniques I was able to do the work on my own and the problem was easily solved by every time I went into triggers I used the therapy techniques. heres wishing you good luck. ![]() |

I have to agree with Amandalouise. Finding out what the triggers are and working with your T to get past them is really at the core of anything that causes triggers.
once you know them, you can work thru a process that you and your T practice. It takes work. You have the determination and the awareness..... if you have communication with insiders, then it may be helpful to also check with them and see what is going on. just my thoughts. |

I have problems getting things done. Sometimes just everyday normal things. Brushing my teeth, bathing, washing the dishes. What I do that has really helped me out a lot is make a check list of things that need to be done daily. Everyone in my system knows that these things have to be done everyday. They are suppose to check them off when they do them. Keeps me from second guessing everything.
Might try a check list. I did mine on the computer so I could print off copies as needed. Make some blank spaces for things that need to be done that day. Write them in like the night before and hang the list up where you know everyone will see it. For me when I'm just really off and don't know what's happening or can I keep up, the list helps. Just a thought.

![]() annalouise, white_iris, yeah... i had to type the*r* word. knew it was coming, could feel its effects spinning.... i know the trigger... ![]() It isn't that i don't want to put those things (good ideas) into effect - they just aren't possible with my current T and her time ![]() Quote:

You just said it so well, Kiya, my memory is one of my constant trials because I do forget things. I'm in a desperate search for my car and house keys and can't find them and it has to do with switching. ARGH.
I do sympathize, but honestly can't be much help this time. I hope you find what you need and you are right to ask for help, that is a good thing to do! I believe you will find the way to overcome in this situation soon. pixies in a jam

I can try to pm, and do as I can.
You've gotten some very good advice already. It would be a great idea to have some kind of master list, and to work with a therapist too. Also is there any way scheduling something with people in real life would help, like a study group or study date? That way they could call you if you don't show? Sometimes I found it helpful to keep myself practicing to "practice buddy" with someone, or I've heard of people having "gym buddies". Best of luck with the class

Kiya,
We would help if we could, but unfortunatley, we have our own school to attend. If you wish, we could PM you when we get home. Best of luck. E.M.
