Has anyone else heard someone inside them? Let me explain:

I'm in the hospital, and the patients are required to get a brief physical from a doctor. When he was investigating my stomach, I became VERY nervous (am terribly afraid of sexual assault) and then I heard Wissy (my childish part of me) start to cry. It almost made me cry, but I didn't because they'd think I was weird.

Has anyone else had this happen?

((((Ohseedee))))

There is nothing wrong with you and hearing that child part of you is okay. She was scared and rightfully so. She only knows what she knows and she was only relating that. Yes, I hear many voices within and they all have something very important to say and have feelings that need to be accepted and listened to.

Please know that others hear the voice of their inner child too. It is not only those that have dissociative disorders. All of us have an inner child that at times speaks softly to them. Getting in touch with that part of you is okay. For many, when they feel something or they see maybe a child playing their inner child will sometimes step forth to be heard once again. If they have something happen or are with someone that makes their inner child need to be attended to once again they hear that once small voice speak again.

With that said, I was only telling you this because everyone has that small child part within somewhere and sometimes it is apparent to many. I have those parts within that are there and that talk many times and sometimes they just take over. Please do not think they will think you are weird. What you went through is hard at times. Whenever I go to the doctors I have several that are terrified amd sometimes I get resisitance from many.

I am glad you posted and asked. You are not alone. When I first began to realize their were others within it scared me. I thought that people would think I was crazy too. I felt if anyone knew they would put me away. I too tried to hide it for a long time. I tried to say they were not there. But they did not leave and it only got worse until I listened.

I know how you are feeling and it is okay. I think we all have felt that way and there is nothing wrong with that. Just listen and hold true to what you know. Keep breathing and know that we are here for you and we care. Please keep reaching out and posting.

Hope you are feeling better. Thinking of you. Sending you gentle hugs and loving thoughts. Always.

I was once asked if we heard voices by a doctor the standerd answers is yes we hear each other but we do not hear outside voices. WE often have debates or even just all share our own oponion to find a solution for a problem. In the book How to manage our selfs. The authers accepts herself and so is able to devide task with those within. It is at this time that most are becoming co-con. with each other. from all of us to all of those within you.

Thank you everyone.

I notice that my "parts" become more apparent during times of great stress. And this is what happened yesterday. I will try to do as you suggest, and try to talk to those within so we can help each other. I will now call them "parts" of me, but not alters. They are not that individualistic to be considered that.

Ohseedee. My T said the dissociative symptoms usually falls under the PTSD spectrum.
So it makes sense that when one is under stress and the PTSD is activated, that the dissociative symptoms also are activated.

As to the voices, yes. I also had that when the alters are talking. They stay inside. The only time I hear voices externally is when I am having flashback symptoms. Those really stink.

Experienced on this front, too. You're not alone. I always thought it was a normal situation for everyone, and I still struggle with the idea that it's not experienced by all.
