I dont know deb. Its hard to be sure. It would be a good idea to speak to a T maybe. Lots of people feel different with different people. I suppose it depends on what you mean by different.

Im a bit stuck on what to say, it would help to speak to a T though.

Im glad your here anyway and welcome.

in normal every day activities a person normally changes thier behavior and so on according to who they are in contact with for example a person acts one way in church or at a church function and another at a party or socializing with friends. Its the same with family and friends from a very young age people allow peers and peerpressure say how they act what they say and so on. This is totally normal. DID and dissociative disorders is more than changing your attitudes around the people you are with. If you really want to know you can see a psychiatrist or posychologist and go through the diagnosing process. You will find info on that process in my blog called Me, Myself, and I. You can get there by clicking on the blog icon - Blog at the top of this sites pages.

yep, dp. T here says that everyone is somewhat parted. He said, "For instance, I have the me that is a dr., the me that is my wife's husband, the me that goes to the grocery, the me that is my parent's son, etc." I don't know what the average person says, but that's what t said it was like for the average. I've watched hubby and I know that he is very different in different situations. Dissociative disorders can make the "parting" moreso. I would talk to a t.

I wish you well! Let us know?

Good Luck!

Well, I read that and it sounds like t was saying that about me. sorry. In the quote is what t was saying referring to himself...that he and the "average" person are parted to a degree in that realm...different people, situations, etc.

dp...cool and good luck!

I agree with what everyone has said. I'll just add, I am a little more than half way through a sociology class in college. One of the things we learned about in this class (a very big part of the clas, we had to write a paper on this) is how everyone changs "roles" depending on what situation/interaction they are in. The role change is dramatic sometimes (often times actually), and this is completely "normal" for lack of a better word. Here's an example...you act/present yourself one way when at a job interview...you could appear to be a completely different person when out clubbing with friends. People change their language (slang, swearing etc), mannerisms, the way they dress even...depending on the situation. The sociological term for this is "Impression Management". When it's DID, it is MORE dramatic. The change might involve having a different name, a different age, an inability to recognize that time has passed, no memory of the change (lost time) among many other things. If you think it might be DID...it's imperative that you seek professional diagnosis, there are so many things it could be, some completely "normal", some physical.

Good luck,
Sera
