before I was integrated I held down many jobs... my alters were the kind that were "categorical" (some places call this "compartmentalized" "separated" and the Diagnostic book treatment providers use call it "distinct"), which means my alters had their own jobs / purpose for being here. they were here to handle things I could not. the result of all this was that when I was working if I had a problem the alters would take control and do what ever I could not do. My alters also had their own jobs that they worked at. they would manage this by only those who's job they were doing at the moment would be in control of the body.. example when I was at a store doing cashier work only the alter that obtained and worked at that cashier job was in control. when I was working Realtor only the alter that obtained and did that job was in control of the body..I and my alters had many different jobs depending upon what my alters jobs/ purposes were.

Ive been a teacher for 20 years& several times been referred to as the "best" in wherei live.
There are basically 3 of us who teach during the day.
We have different styles, but i think it enhances The curriculum.
The inside kids mostly are out at night and we let them do things they like so that they dont fight for control during the work day.

lonlybychoice.... I have parts that only do certain things like jobs, I am in the medical field and like(((SaraMichelle)))) I've been told I am one of the best in the fields that I work in. Also like SaraMichelle said and I may add...I have learned to let my kid parts come out and play in the safety of my home .....you'll learn this soon enough if you don't let them out they will pop out places where you would be mortified ; like work....I have even noticed that I have to give every one time " out" even if its' journaling ( which for me right now is triggering for some reason")....your in the right place here on pc we understand what you going through ( first hand) and ohmy gosh I have already had some healing in the short time I have been here and I am making friends. "People " on the out side" don't understand d.i.d. So I find that I keep it to my self; hardly any body knows I have it....most people think I am the ditsiest blonde they have ever met ...and I let them think that and I get to laugh about being blonde with my co-workers they think I'm a hoot! I and everybody else on this site are here for you. We support and encourage and sometimes just listen to each other. I check in regularly so if you have any questions feel free to message me.

Work is kind of stabilizing thing for me. If it goes on for too many hours in a day or for too much intensity without a break it can work the opposite. Perhaps that is no different for everyone but it is definitely something I have had to consider.

The parts that work have always been very good at what they do, no matter what but it has been important to be in counseling when needed. We are interconnected for the most part, however the counselor brings insight that the system has at times not had.

Giving appropriate rewards to the various parts has been essential. The ones who work are adults and professional and they are permitted to be out in order to be the best they can be.

The down time has been so important though with calmness and interests that rebuild.

Not sure if this is helpful or just more rules for you but hope you feel encouraged by the responses.
