I know I'm kinda new to this forum and I guess I wanted to introduce myself I know I've already posted once but I thought I would just say hi to everyone.

I don't have much knowledge about DID besides my experience. I guess that's true for probably most people. I guess I am just newly diagnosed, so maybe that's what I mean. I hope to not bother anyone with my posts, if I do please tell me. I know I can be annoying and everything. I'm just trying to learn some new things about DID and myself.

I guess I have a few questions.
Do any of you have any advice for me?

Is there anything that I can do to get closer to my parts?

Should I tell my therapist I come here? I'm kind of afraid to tell her that I am, I think she'll tell me to quit coming. I guess I'm just looking for some support and someone who can help me out, ya know?

Well I'll quit bothering you all now, sorry.

Jennifer

HI
You're not bothering anyone. We all came with questions at one time. We all came looking for support and answers.
I told my T I come here. She thinks it is a good idea that I get support. Sometimes I can say here what I can't say to her. Sometimes my insiders post and if I think she needs to see it, I copy it and give it to her.

Journaling is one way to get closer to insiders.

telling therapists is a personal choice. I have told my last two therapists (one past one and my present one) any time I am in an on line support or therapy group. This way they can read my posts and threads any time they want, this way they also know the types of resourses that I am using to help myself, and by my telling them about my on line support and therapy groups they can check the sites out for their own use or for use with other clients. I can also tell you that my present therapist is glad that I have and use the resourse of on line support and therapy group and she is a member of and or visits at least one of my on line resourses and she has never abused knowing that I am a member of that site and so on. My past therapist and I would hold some of our sessions at the local library and I helped her register for a support group that I was a member of so that she could have access to that site for other clients and for seeing my posts and threads. and she too was glad that I am in on line groups and has never abused knowing who I was on the groups and so on.

As for advice and learning about DID. I have a blog here with psych central. you will find loads of varifyable information about what DID is and my experiences with it. To get there click on the word - blogs - at the top of this page, then click on the entry underneath my blogs title - Me, Myself and I. That will bring you to my most recent entry. click on the blog title banner and that will bring up a page where if you look on the right side you will see the word - pages. One of my pages is my blogs index where I have posted a list of all the entrys you will find on my blog. click on the entry you want to read. Feel free to print off the entries and take it to your therapist.

Hang in there.

Hi Jennifer,

You're not a bother at all! We all ask questions of one sort or another. I think you'll find everyone is most helpful here.

It seems to me that most of my friends who are DID keep a journal and each of the parts can write to each other if they can't communicate with each other another way. Also, most make play time for their Littles. It's good fun for everyone.

I hope this helps a little. I am no authority by any means, but I'm sure the others will come up with more suggestions.

Hugs,

Jan
