(threw coffee 10 feet across the lounge carpet and dropped the cup the other day.) had an MRI in march which came bake OK but have now had to re-present myself to my neurologist to be referred to a specialist unit in London dealing with obscure motor disorders - anyone else exhibited / experienced such conditions and how did they deal with them / get them treated?
Many thanks.
london has different standards and treatment options then america has. so Im kind of hesitant to suggest things I know have helped others here in america with this same problem that we call conversion disorder and your country calls DMD. my suggestion is keep working with your treatment providers. after you have all the testing done maybe theres something london treatment treatment providers have that may help.

there are two such units in London. the Maudsley and I can't remember the other one. before being treated you first have to go for an assessment, the waiting list is long from what I was told, the treatment from what was explained to me involves long term (up to 6 months) in patient care. involving physio, psychiatrist, OT, and nursing care among other things on a daily basis.
the treatment is very expensive and you will be very lucky if your CCG (PCT) agree to pay for it. mine refuse as they do not fund treatment at the Maudsley or the other one!
in my experience, no one knows much about this DX and so I am left to my own devices with the support of a monthly meeting with my social worker!
good luck getting funding x

I have found using a thermos cup with a screw top lid very useful in keeping drinks contained when my arms are not co-operating. on really bad days a baby bottle comes in useful! you can get straps to keep cutlery attached to your hand if your arm keeps throwing it!
conversion disorder is the collective name for a number of lesser known dissociative disorders which are grouped together in America but due to their vast differences in symptoms are individually named in England.
