Although I have no official diagnosis other than depression, my friend thinks that I may have dissociative tendencies rather than full on DID.
Is this a thing at all? I don't know how it all works :/ It's because there are a number of gaps in my memory, but according to various friends I've not been acting out of the ordinary, so it's more akin to memory loss. I'm not really sure how to explain this from my own point of view, but then, I'm not really sure I understand it at all myself anyway. |

I spent a long time trying to figure out what was going on in my head. Eventually I went to a psychologist and after an evaluation and many session I was diagnosed with DID. A good friend of mine told me I was dissociating. That is what pushed me to see a therapist. There are too many reasons why you may lose some time that are not DID. There are health reasons, stress, age etc. I think it would be best if you found a therapist you trust and work with him or her to find out the best course of treatment. I hope some of this helped. Take care.

I dont know about what your location calls dissociative tendencies and dissociative disorders. here in america yes dissociative symptoms and dissociative disorders are recognized as mental disorders, mental illness symptoms. again only treatment providers in your country of Hertfordshire, England can say whether dissociative problems are recognized as mental disorders and whether you have it or not. my suggestion contact a treatment provider (a medical doctor, therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist...or other mental health treatment provider) they can tell you whats what in your location and based on your direct problems. |

I like disassociating and see no problem with having DID. I just get to have more than one personality. That's fun.
