Hello johnthomas000: Welcome to PsychCentral. PC is a great place to gain support, learn strategies for handling mental health concerns, & to make internet friends. There are many wonderfully supportive members here on PsychCentral.

All new members' first 5 posts are reviewed before they become available for viewing by the community. So there may be a delay between the time that you submit your first 5 posts & the point at which they become available for viewing. However, once these initial posts have been reviewed & approved, your posts will become available for viewing as soon as you click the submit button.

There are quite a few forums in which you will be able to post. If you have not already done so, be sure to look through the listing in the Forum Index:

http://forums.psychcentral.com/

Each forum is listed in the Index along with a brief description of it's purpose.

Also, once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved, you will be able to participate in our chat rooms where you'll have the opportunity to correspond with other PC members in real time. These chat rooms are listed on the community calendar showing the dates & times they meet:

Forums at Psych Central - Calendar

Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact any member of the Community Liaison Team. Best wishes...

Heehee, been around DID all my lives! I know what I experience, I'm not a doctor or anything. That's what I pay the other guy for! :P

I've only been here a short while. I'm working on my story in my profile. So far it's incomplete.

Can you give me a brief synopsis of your experience ... nothing too personal. I only ask cuz I'm interested to see if there are similarities with respect to my story. Either way, thx change!

welcome Johnthomas. usually people dont immediately trust and tell new members their story of being DID right away. you see DID is caused by being abused in the most horrific ways. people with DID dont usually remember their whole story. part of being DID is having memory problems. this can result in people feeling self conscious/ not believed by others because of memory gaps.

the best way to find out if there are any people here like yourself is to post about yourself. then those that have things in common with you will post back to you.

what I can do is tell you I have a past diagnosis of DID. All my alters have since integrated. here is where you can read more about what DID is in general here in the USA.

Thx change. I understand the trust issue completely, that's why I said "nothing to personal." And even though o everyone's name is fictional, I could never post what I do remember. After t for a number of years I went bback to 2 people that I remember when I was very young. They were not kind. One person denied everything ... the other admitted everything. That person even confessed to additional things. That person cried and was broken cuz of what she did. On the day they admitted to their stuff, was a day of healing. I am using my cell and don't know if this is posting.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
