I've met other DIDers that are of this variety. This is where an alter is blown further into pieces, the way I take it. Anyone here can identify and enlighten all of us on this version of DID? I'm fascinated.

It's so like layered and totally like crazy fragged.

Thanks CANDC. I found some technical writings on the subject. Just wondering if any have any first hand experience.

I've lost some memory over the years - is that where the alter creates more alters? One good technical book is The Haunted Self. and yea, we have some of those. Doing mapping of the system over the years led to seeing who created whom.

I've heard for every instance an act of traumatic abuse happened, a part is created to bury the abuse, at least hold the memory. I've got 18 years of stuff. I only can remember maybe 3 incidents.

My full others deal with life.

yeah, but there's one way of DID where, like you say the brain creates an alter for each event it can no longer handle.
then there's another form where the brain creates an alter or two, and then when an alter is going through something they can't handle anymore THEY create another alter...

..........BRAIN...........
......Event .....Event
........./ ..............\
....Alter ..............Alter

or:

.................BRAIN
...............|.........|
...........Event......Event
..............|.............|
...........Alter.........Alter
.............................|
...........................Event
..............................\
...........................New Alter formed by an alter

ok that's the best chart I can come up with under the circumstances. hope it makes sense.

Nice chart!

I also was told that fragments is an alter whose splits into parts where a part holds memories, one observes, one has emotion, etc. They also say PF alters are easier to integrate than full blown alters.

They basically say that anyone with hundreds to thousands of alters is considered PF.

It's comforting to know that we can mass produce!

i don't know how you'd even find them all unless you did therapy of some degree daily. seems like a lot of work. i think i'd lose energy to even have to figure all that out if that was my case....which i know it's not thankfully.

sounds like it would be even more exhausting than just your 'usual' case.
Thanks for this!

LOL on the 'mass produce' comment!
yep - we have had fractures as well as alters, and it does seem that they "integrated" once their needs were addressed. I likely have more. Sometimes people just show up and none of us know who they are.

Yes. There's a few that present that haven't introduced themselves yet.

I sometimes think I have some form of poly fragmented DID. Not because I have 100's of alters, but I'm not a complete whole person when I'm in a dissociative state. I don't quite fit the criteria of DID since my altered states are all myself. But it feels like another me and I have a black out whenever I'm this other me. No one can really tell when I'm dissociating because my name and age doesn't change. I think I might have a unique kind of poly fragmented DDNOS along with my C~PTSD. I checked out the PTSD forum, but I feel like I relate more to this one. My biggest issue isn't the anxiety and nightmares, but the fact I turn into another version of myself that I have no control over. Sorry I don't have any new info on poly fragmented DID, but I think I have a variation of that condition.

p.s. How is everyone doing?? :-)

Hi Fuzzyone!

This isn't just a "DID" forum, it's all of dissociative disorders, so you are most welcomed here.

I read into your complex PTSD symptoms and oh yes, I can identify considering of the 18 years of constant abuse that I had to endure.

Anyhow, glad to see you back!
