Do you participate in support groups in your area? Are they peer led?
If you do not have access, would you participate if a group developed?

There are none here where I live, that's why I'm online. I would go if there was one...maybe. Face to face social events trigger my anxiety and it would be pointless attending. I'd rent a therapist if I could afford one, but I can't ATM.

I would really like to go to a support group, but there aren't any near me. The closest I have found is for abuse survivors, and thats not really what Im looking for as I would prefer to go to support group for dissociation. There are obviously lots of provisos - it would need to be easy to get to, and not too late at night etc. I'm not sure what 'peer led' means or what the alternatives are, so I can't comment on that bit!

I would never participate in a support group. I would be worried about being triggered. And my system is so set in people not knowing I think we would be in complete denial. And be unable to admit that we exist.
Thanks for this!

I totally agree with you there, I don't want people to see what goes on in my head. Much less who I might become. My system is also afraid to let people know about them... From what I know there's only been one person in my life that has met them "all".... And I'm guessing that came only after gaining trust. Only to have me pull away in denial.. And end what was probably the best relationship in my life..

Fear is a very strong motivator, makes you do stupid things at times, and keeps you from getting better in so many respects. I keep trying to get this point across to the whole system..

We have tried to find groups in our area, tho not for DID, more for anxiety... With no luck... I guess that's to be expected, try and get a group of anxiety stricken people in the same room...

I don't know how old you are, but me, in my older age of not giving a crap don't care anymore.

True some parts don't want discovery, but it takes just one to spill the beans. Besides, by being hidden... we've received zero help in a lifetime felt robbed.
