Hello- new here.
I have only been coming to terms with this for the last couple of years, and only one other person in my life knows. I have strange things happen, hard to explain, but sometimes the clutter in my head is so loud when they all start chatting that it is like being in a crowded restaurant. They only speak up when I feel safe. When there is any type of stress in my life at all, everything is as normal as pie. But when I am safe, there they are. Sometimes, I feel like they are all distant, and I like it that way. Once, one came too close, and a terrible memory popped up and I just... had a hard time assimilating it. I am curious, does anyone else have just "background noise" altars instead of "switching" altars? Also, I am curious, because I am the only one in my life with amazingly in-depth dreams. I dream with full length, sometimes full-life-time, full character development, and returnable scenes. I can come back to one or the other. Sometimes I wonder if these dreams are "their" worlds? I don't know. I don't have any answers. This is the first time I am asking for any one out there, and am pretty scared as it is... so I hope someone hears. |

Sherri: Hi Lucidjane sweetie....welcome to PC!
The best I can tell you hon is to just be you and share what you've got to say because whatever it is...it means something to you. Sometimes looking in and reaching out requires courage which you now show, so thank you. I've experienced the "din" but it can be contributed to head noise, but when we others chat, its more of a specific kind of communication that we are embarking on which is just us because its still a mystery about it all. Almost any form of MI can bring about head voices, but you would really need to work with a mental health professional to get to the base cause. Upon rereading your question about alters, some alters are there to just hold a fragment of memory....it's there job to safe keep the memory. An "alter" (I hate that word) has a job to do, a function, a reason for being. For us, it's to hold and hide bad memories, do a coping skill, deal with people, places, or things. We are like Baskin Robbins...a flavor for everything! Everyones MI is different, so hopefully others will come forward with some personal insight. ![]() |
