For whatever reason I've been going into a trance like state where I may have a conversation with someone and not remember it at all, etc. But today I've also tried writing posts here and like half the words in one entry were total gibberish to the point that I dont' even know what I was trying to ask so I just deleted it and didn't bother. Is this typically what dissociation looks like? Can psychosis or dissociation be caused from lack of sleep due to mania? I know that's probly complicated but I would like to know. I know some of my health care proffessionals have said I am manic or hypomanic and I know I dissociate atleast to some degreee. The last week or so my sleeping has gotten less and less although when I do "sleep" it's more like I pass out or lose consciousness is how I feel because there's no warning nothing; I'll fall asleep in a chair with my labtop in my lap and be talking to someone online and I wake up like an hour later. Does any of this sound at all like DID? Just wondering. Not sure I understand the difference between DID and dissociation entirely. Thanks

i would suggest you ask for this post to be moved to the DID forum, alot of DID'ers in here only visit, or post in that forum, you might find what you need in there...

I'm sorry evildouble. It does not sound like DID to me. But if things are bothering you, you might want to talk to your therapist and psychiatrist to find out what is going on. Stress, medicine, etc can be causing what you are experiencing. Good luck with everything.

On one of my more recent hospitalizations he had me fill out this 300 some odd multiple choice questionaire a Personality asesment inventory and the psychologist was the one who interviewed further and came up with results of panic, features of ocd, bpd, ptsd, chronic trauma syndrome, schizoaffective disorder: bipolar type. I'm confused what's the diff between dissasociate disorder and DID? could u clarify?

Hi evildouble. DID is one of many disorders that fall under the category of a dissociative disorder. Hope that helps? I think Petunia gave more information in your other post about this. That might be helpful too. Take care. Trance-Like State

Thanks again! I guess maybe I don't fit any of these but I'm not entirely convinced that I don't do some of it. Like I do dissociate. There are times when I can't recall what I've been doing for hours on end; but, somehow I am positive I haven't been sleeping. I live alone with my cat and dog; so, there is no one else to say what is real or not real or what has been going on really except for me. I had a late appointment last night with my pdoc. His conclusion was that a lot of what I'm experiencing is due to meds they used to treat my symptoms; kinda odd don't u think? I think so anyway. He's taking me off some hard things I think it's gonna be tough and hopefully not too stressful for my body atleast. Like I have one week to get off valium which i've been taking twice a day for 3 weeks straight; and it has helped me but he says the one's he's taking me off of or reducing are causing most of the problems like mania, forgetfulness, possibly dissociation, nausea, blacking out instead of sleeping, insomnia, etc. He's also taking me off effexor in a 2 week span which I've been on for a long time like I think atleast this year. He's upping my lithium because of the mania and the level was .4 and it should have been .8. He's reducing the artane for agitation and shaking, and keeping me on trilafon, and seroquel.
