Hi, I have had an increase in dissociation since a bad experience. I want to decrease it and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or coping techniques.

Grounding techniques help me when I am present enough to remember to use them. DO you have any particular grounding techniques that work for you? I think you can find some on youtube if you enter "grounding skills" or "grounding techniques".
Do you see a therapist at all? |

i also need to learn how to reduce dissociation
i have tried lots of things ... what seems to help me most is being with someone that can trust and connect with... kind of lean on and take mind off things... but its hard when you dont really have friends or anyone ![]()

I see a therapist, but we haven't talked much about grounding. I have before with another one and like sensory grounding but dp Dr still creeps on me at inopportune times and I forget or can't use them.

the only thing that works for me is ignoring it and doing things as you would normally do

Things that help me ground:
-certain songs that I like to sing along with -ice cubes on my forearm -strong tasting candy or gum; mint or sour or dark chocolate -focusing on noticing details about my location (smells, sights, sounds) -counting the number of things in a room that are the same color -breathe in for count of 4, hold for count of 4, breathe out for count of 4, hold for count of 4 -petting cat or dog |

I have a meditation app that seems to work pretty well, or just walking through what I remember of a guided meditation I've heard before if I'm not somewhere I can use the volume on my phone. It's been a rough week but doing that seems to help bring 'me' back.

curious to know, anyone has ever tested if a person changes it's personality to an alter, whether this alter personality feel any pains? thanks!
