Opposite-sex alters:
Some alters may have a different gender to that of that body, for example a male alter in a physically female body. Opposite sex alters are usually more like a young girl's idea of how a boy would be an actual boy, or a young boy's idea of how a girl would be. Normally they have personality traits which associated with the gender of the opposite sex. A female alter in a male body may be very fearful or frightened, and a male alter in a female body may be very angry, feel physically strong, or be very brave. An alter may be have an opposite gender because of sexual abuse, for example a male alter does not have vagina, so will not fear being vaginally raped as the female body was. A female alter may be created in a male because that alter was forced to take on a female role in having sex with men. [9]:34-35 Do you agree with this? |

Hi there. Your ideas sound plausible but I am not a person with experiences of DID so I am not sure if it works this way in actual cases. Is this how your experience is?

Actually I read this somewhere...and I mostly don’t agree with it. I have a nurturer and she quiets the tears and comforts the pain. When one is really hurting, crying through an emotional breakdown...she takes over and the pain goes away...she’s very comforting.
Why some of the other alters are around...I don’t know. Our sexual alter came out of no where as when our father was checking our temperature down there at about 5. I heard a female voice in my head say ‘oo I like that’. I wondered what??? Then forgot it. I’m more asexual...genderless. We have more female alters then males for male alters had to emerge to deal with male society being we kept ending up in the construction trade. They had a lot of learning to do and we were very naive through the 20’s. I don’t see how we can decide what we want an alter to be like being they are there own traits. If I can design an alter...is that really an alter? Last edited by Anonymous48690; May 01, 2018 at 12:11 PM. |

I'm not sure my opinion on this will be helpful (because it's not very well thought out) but I wanted to share that though the body is male, the alter that is most sexual is a female. Fortunately for me, she is lesbian.

For me a female psychical body here: I'd go with what was the families tendencies there was a lot of rough housing and wrestling even at school so a boy and there are plenty of male like traits for mine. So it is subjective, it just depends on how you obey your guidance and i had several brothers.

Don't know the reason but have male & female alters. Before we knew we were DID, several times we were called by doctors' offices to go repeat blood work or other tests. When it happened after our dx, questioned the nurse on why we had to repeat. Got either a don't know or probably a lab error reply. T suggested we ask the dr. directly. The dr.,obviously a little ticked off himself at not having 'correct ' results, said .. these are obviously male values.

It’s been reported that alters can have different bio scans....like some needs glasses while others don't....some deal with psychosis while others don’t. There is a type of mind over body relationship here....especially that the mind (which is the brain) does control the body. So, no surprise that test scores change with the mental identification. So....there’s that enigma...,do you have a male brain...or a female brain??? Scientists have been studying this for years and have theories of hormone levels through development. It’s said that all fetuses starts out as female....then testosterone added causes male physicality. I’ve also read that during development....a male fetus can be flushed with a dose of female hormones -estrogen- (visa versa) causing gender dysphoria. Female brain male body...Male brain female body. Yes? No? Maybe? Is it genetics or hype? It is also suggested and proven by hormone therapy that males taking estrogen and females taking testosterone take on that hormones intended physical characteristics...mental though? They claim that that’s already inborn....hence the physical transition to match the mental thinking/feeling/belief (don’t beat me up...please...open to talks). I mean you have to admit...the female brain and male brain are seemingly different... Hormones play a big part of our physical chemical make up more than most believe or might even understand...take 2 cucumbers, each in different pickle jars...one is in a brine (chemical hormones) of vinegar (female) while the other is in a brine (chemical hormones) of vinegar with hot chili peppers (male). Each pickle is physically a different version of the same cucumber (same plant or how a cucumber grows...tree?...anyways)....one is hot and one is not. Now....how can a pickle (hot or not) suffering with DID that has opposite gender alters exhibiting exact opposite thinking, behaviors and bio scans in a cucumber soaked only in his or her own brine? Explain that conundrum to me Einstein pickle eater...how is a not hot pickle hot and a hot pickle not??? Huh? Sure hormones somewhat affect the mind as earlier suggested...but what about the asexual parts that are neither male or female???-cucumber now a joy toy? The brain is mightier then the chem DNA....how and why? ...oh wise owl. The left hemisphere incorporates logical thinking processes whereas the right hemisphere incorporates creative thinking processes in both genders/sexes....hence some are more creative then others and reversed....but that doesn’t determine gender identification. An entire nervous system reversed creates left handers. Accountants to the left....painters to the right. The human brain is so complex (the physical...not so much)....we are scratching the surface....but we as a group of collective thinkers are a lot further then making wild caveman guesses as we have in the past....but we are still scratching our collective heads. So, in the case of a multiple pickle (lol)......are they accusing each flavored pickle of fabricating an opposite fake/imagined/contrived gender part based on lacking...or is it genuine? I can’t help but to feel that it IS genuine. I personally can’t swallow the hormonal flush hypothesis- (it’s sickening when they call a guess a theory when it’s just that...a hypothesis...an unproven theory as of yet). This suggests that opposite gender identification is a chemical imbalance. So simple so quaint....sell a new pill thank-you. Grrrr. Now we have entered the unknown zone....where beliefs and speculation reigns. So....in short... I got no idea.....but I refuse to believe that it is make believe. ![]() Last edited by Anonymous48690; May 07, 2018 at 08:55 PM. |

I had only female alters but I do know some f my dissociative friends that had both male and female alters. so yes it can happen.
the post about blood properties interests me because female blood has 2 x chomosones in their blood and men have 1 x and 1 y chromosone per so many number of blood cells in their blood work... my interest and question is do you mean your blood somehow no longer had the second x chromosome (female) and somehow your blood made y chromosomes? for anyone who may find their blood work changing.....please contact your doctor this is actually a physical health problem called Hermaphroditism (having both female and male chromosomes leads to having both male and female reproductive and genitals) my daughter was born with this. she is on medication and periodically has to get transfusions because of the problems she has due to her body producing both male and female blood properties. because of this problem she shows dissociative like symptoms but different, more in the range of psychosis and schizophrenic voices/ psychosis induced alters. blood property changes can also be other life threatening problems too. |

Typically, the corpus callosum is significantly larger in females than males allowing for more fluid transfer between the hemispheres. It is that part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres. It is helpful for some to think of it this way - the adult female brain is like a large room. An adult male brain occupies the same square footage, but consists of rooms allowing for compartmentalization due to the smaller width of the corpus callosum. When men have a larger than average corpus callosum, they tend to be geniuses. In fact, Da Vinci's brain was saved and is studied even today. He had the largest corpus callosum on record for a male. Anyway, interesting stuff to me - and I thought maybe for you too. Unless one is doing their own blood work at home, I'm guessing it was their doctor that ordered the tests and he or she knows the results before the patient does.

Well, there is a bit of misinformation here about chromosomes and "changing blood". Chromosomes are found in ALL cells of the body. They are not floating freely in blood. There are not a certain number of chromosomes per blood cells. Chromosomes are the basic building blocks of life, and are present in every single cell in the human body.
Blood does not create chromosomes. Chromosomes create blood cells. Chromosomes create muscle cells, skin cells, neurons, iris cells, skin cells etc - chromosomes create everything! When that one sperm cell delivers its package of one set of 23 chromosomes to the ovum that's it - that particular combination of 23 sets of chromosomes are going to be the only combinations of chromosomes you have for life. It isn't possible for blood to suddenly create different chromosomes mid-life and for a person to suddenly "become" a hermaphrodite. It just can't happen. Your set of chromosomes is determined and unchangeable at the moment of conception. Unless there is a chromosomal abnormality, all cells in a female contain 23 pairs of X chromosomes except for the ovum, which contains 1 unpaired set of 23 x chromosomes. All cells in a human male contains 23 pairs of chromosomes also, except 22 are pairs of x chromosomes and the 23rd is a pair of xy. (And in the male spermatozoa contain 22 unpaired x chromosomes and the 23rd is either an x or a y.) Any medical professional or person familiar with chromosomal disorders would know this. Chromosomes don't float around freely in the blood. They are the building blocks, the coded information essential for cell life. We have some male alters but I do not have much (or any) coconsciousness with them. Overall our person is female, but not very "girly". I think it would be really interesting for someone to research the body-mind connection in opposite gendered alters. Last edited by Amyjay; May 08, 2018 at 02:41 AM. |

I would like to clarify my post about blood. my response was related to another poster stating their ......blood...... changed or contained male properties when they are female.
I was not talking about whole body chromosomes or giving an educated lecture on whole body genetics. my daughter was born with both male and female genitals and internal reproductive organs. this is called hermaphroditism. bone marrow (the center of her bones) produces blood like any other human body does but because of the Hermaphroditism her bone marrow cant decide which kind of blood cells it wants to make. sometimes her blood cells have the male properties and sometimes it has the female properties and sometimes it has a mixture of both that her bone marrow makes. this is what I was talking about... blood tests showing changes in female to male blood properties relating my daughters situation to the poster who said they have this problem. the fix for my daughter is hormone medications, transfusions that are keeping her blood supply that her bone marrow is producing stable and not changing from female to male blood properties. when my daughter is having problems related to her blood changing from female (x chromosones in the blood neucleus ) to male (minus one X and adding a y instead ) she hears voices, has what seems to be alters, loses track of time, hallucinates and has delusional thoughts and other symptoms too so her doctors, my wife and I have made the decision to hold her blood at only female properties. someday when she is old enough to decide for herself she will have gender reassignment so that her body wont keep telling her bone marrow to produce mixed (technical term mosaic) blood. also there are many blood tests at home and in outpatient and hospital lab versions that can test for blood abnormalities, a childs gender and many other things too. theres even cheek swabs that will diagnose whether a child is male, female or both, related to their parents and so on. please dont confuse my post for what it wasnt talking about. I was strictly discussing how my daughters ..........bloodwork/ lab results change from female to male properties. it is a very harmful thing when bone marrow decides to throw into the process things like abnormal blood cell production. |

I think we need to stick to fixing inanimate objects because further education is out.
