I were sent here by a nice guy from another thread... because I think I have two people in my head. However, I'm not sure I have DID. Because...
By "two people in my head", I don't mean I have a double personality. I mean I feel like there is a second consciousness trying to share the part of my brain controlling attention (I have ADD). Like I was born with two people in my head, in the same way some are born as Siamese twins. We have some common characteristics, but I'm not actually becoming her at times, if you know what I mean. I've been talking with her for a long time. She sometimes figures things I haven't realized, can be smarter than me and give me good advice. She's very intuitive and strong-willed (it's natural that she has a better bond with the subconscious than I). We sometimes fight, too. But she feels quite sad and deprived due to me being the one to have the body. I sometimes feel her "invading" the front of my head and then I can't focus on anything (I know what happens, just my ADD fully kicks in). I'm now writing a comic, and she expresses herself there a lot-so she managed to exist outside of me in a way. She was obsessed with it and I had a hard time focusing on anything else at all (ok, I did enjoy creating it, but I ruined other parts of my life). Now it's finishing, and she's started to relax a bit. We even managed to agree on how to share the focus time once or twice, which is more progress than we've ever done. We're starting to figure how to live together so that we're both happy. I know it sounds crazy. Maybe I am a whole new level of wacko. But she feels quite real and I cannot go around telling people that she exists, obviously, so she's imprisoned for life in a way. I'd appreciate any thoughts, but I mostly wanted to get this out here. |

Thanks for sharing. DID isn’t the only diagnosis for having others in body, there is also Other Specified Dissociative Disorders, namely OSDD -1 as to having parts that are present but without any real or very limited bodily control.
It sounds like you get along quite nicely and the realness of it all is genuine. One can call themselves a multiple and not have DID which is reserved for those that are having a living problem with multiplism. I’m on the fence with that one....I’m a functioning multiple (hold a job, relationships, pay the bills,...) with a system that works in co-operation. I mean we all have executive control, but we must still hide the system...the guys go to work and we females rule the roost. Some don’t even front and stay in back helping and giving suggestions. So being a multiple is not necessarily a disorder, just only if it is. Hope to hear more. ![]() |

I understand this. I have another... thing, or entity in my head that I talk to. Our relations aren't so friendly, however...

that's normal. each personality would feel like a whole person with their own interests, and views, etc etc "becoming whole", means just becoming you. just one personality |

![]() We're probably friendly because I've worked on myself a lot, for many years. I've had a lot of psychological problems, but now I feel quite good with myself. Well, except from my ADD. Recognizing and accepting her existence helped, too, as she's been trying to draw my attention for quite some time. Persuading her I do want the best for both of us was a good ground to start talking. Who knows, perhaps your "thing" is also, deep down, a pained person thirsty for a hug. To be honest, I wouldn't mind to be two people forever, as long as we can think and work in unison. |

your question... are you more than one person.....
sorry only you and your treatment providers can answer that. what I can tell you is that ..........I........... was not more than one person. I had one physical body so my treatment providers considered me to be..........One.........person with many "Alternate Personalities" if you google personality psychological definition you will find the definition is how someone thinks, behaves, presents to others around them, their individual differences.. how this fit ......me..... was that my treatment providers diagnosed me with DID, a person who switched into many different personalities when ever I encountered a trigger that caused me to have my dissociative symptoms (DID is listed with the dissociative disorders and Dissociation symptoms are the main problems) what else I can tell you is what you posted can happen with many different mental and physical health problems. to find out what your mental disorders are and whether your treatment providers consider you to be more than one person you will need to contact your own treatment providers or a mental health treatment provider in your off the computer location. |

Everyone has a different way of finding their fullest life. Yours might be to stay just as you are but get even better at negotiating where your attention needs to be at a given moment. It might even be helpful for your other person to learn to use the body, as that might reduce frustrations for her, and make it easier to let you do your own thing mentally, when you need to. You are the ones living your life, so it's up to you! ![]() ![]() |
