am so happy with my new greyhound... really am... but my alter today... told my therapist... how upset she is... how exhausted.. tired.. how her asthma is kicking up a storm...

it seems... that the dog's pacing...triggers the anxiety... she felt after being sodomized each time by the pedophile... she couldn't sit down.. because of the pain... and so it is a very bad association...

the pacing...

am exhausted....

((((Free)))) I'm so sorry that your alter is being triggered by the dog pacing. I can understand WHY the trigger is happening.
Not much you can do to stop the dog from pacing, but maybe there is something you can do with the alter when she starts to feel that way? Is there any distraction such as drawing, coloring, going outside for a walk? Anything?

Pegasus, I see your point, however I believe the triggers were put in place appropriately and since this is in regards to an alter maybe Free didn't feel comfortable placing this in the abuse section? IDK, Just a thought. I don't think you meant anything mean by it.

I am sorry your new dog is causing your anxiety to increase and also causing distress to an alter. I, for one, have zero problem with the content of your post. You have it marked as a trigger and emphasize it is a trigger "of the worst kind" - I do not think you could make it any clearer that people should not read it if they are concerned about the content. So, I would not worry about it. I know you post it here because your abuse caused your DID and your increase in anxiety causes your alters more distress - seems like an appropriate place to post, sorry you are being given even more distress.

Can you call the adoption agency and see if they have any ideas to calm your dog's pacing down?

Take care.

it is hard to post anything that has to do with switching and parts anywhere else in this forum because ppl don't udnerstand it , don't support it, and then question or ridicule it .

perhaps something like the garden (a spin off) could be created just for such posts that fir both the DID and abuse?
