am i describing a dissociative disorder or something that is related to it
its like i remember (what i remember and its not very much as not myself and basically have no memory as myself
i have basically no memory of my adopted father, adopted mother, step father and adopted sister that has died

hi there. you've not said very much so all i really thought when i read your post was...have you spoken to anybody IRL about this? do you see a therapist? do you feel you can talk to your family? and yes...do please keep posting...it does help.

You might be describing dissociative amnesia. It is when you have extensive memory loss of traumatic events in your life. Some might argue that it is a lesser form of Dissociative Identity Disorder in which the person's personality fragments into seemingly different personalities or "alters" as they are commonly called.

Eitherway this is not the best route to a diagnosis. You should consult a Mental Health Professional if you feel like something is wrong.
