During my last hospitalization I was given a diagnoses of DD-NOS (dissociative disorder-not otherwise specified). My question is, does this cause a person to become confused as to what really happened or if it was just a dream. Sometimes I have to check something to find out if I did it, or just dreamt it. Also, I may say something, but not sure if I said it out loud or if I just thought it, so I ask, or end up repeating things. ("You just said that!") I don't know whether this is typical in dissociation, if it could be due to meds (Seroquel?), or if it's a side effect of ECT I had 4 years ago. Please help me out if you can. Thanks.

I have had the "dream" problem vs reality problem.. for most of my life.. so... it is well before medication.. well before any therapy... and.. I am DID... don't know if this helps any...
But... I have learned... to write dreams down.. all dreams... and.. to sort it out... can figure out.. which is which...so have a good grasp... on reality - it is just that my dreams... and my nightmares are very, very real.... |

complic8ted... yeah, that is common for me too... to some extent. sometimes i think i did things only to find out i didn't. i'm DID. this happened before i was on meds, too. but for a long time i wasn't aware of it - am learning to pay attention and be more present so now i am quicker to discover when i don't know which reality i'm in....

Oh gosh, yes! I done that off and on too. I don't take medicines. I think it could be from a myriad of things, dissociation and stress being a couple of them. Good luck as you figure things out.

I do this ALL the time; however it has gotten progressively worse in the past month. I thought it could be a side effect of Effexor, but then again I am MASSIVELY stressed out right now.
When I was little it happened even worse than it does now. I would "dream" something and it seemed so real, I would wake up the next day and try to pick up where the dream left off, and people would look at me like "what are you talking about". I do also have dissociative disorder as well as depression and anxiety. Hope this helps.
