Does this happen to you guys?
I think it's kinda freaky. I know it happens when you switch but it seems that I switch all the time and don't even know! Switching all the time doesn't feel freaky though. Sure it feels nasty sometimes.. but sometimes I don't even notice. Headaches and nausea have always been a part of my life so no big deal. Sometimes they get worse so I feel like I'm gonna die but other than that it's manageable. My boyfriend thinks my face is made of rubber and touches it and I get mad because I don't want anyone to touch my face. Every time I take a picture I look different. What the heck. Every time I look in the mirror I get scared. I know what I look like but I never see it in the mirror! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi Katie
![]() I struggle with looking in the mirror at all. When I do, I have to concentrate on specific things like just my hair, or just my teeth, etc. If I look myself in the face or eyes, I usually end up someplace else with a beat up face, not knowing what happened. I understand about pictures. My T and I looked through some photos of me once. Even she said wow, they look like maybe your sister but not you (I don't have a sister but there was a resemblance I guess to me). It's kind of weird but normal. I look at the pictures sometimes and think, who is that person. T has said that when I switch, I look like a completely different person sometimes. I guess that's normal too. ![]() And no touching. It could go very badly for someone who does that. lol ![]() It's good to see you here. You've been missed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I find that I do not look in the mirror very often, I'm not sure why.

Hey folks.
I stayed away from this forum for a while because the system was not in a good place. So now I decided to lurk a bit, and surprise surprise, a part of mine has decided to post. I couldn't guess whose post this is - I don't know who is constantly looking in the mirror to freak themselves out. ![]() But I do know that I avoid looking in the mirror at all costs. My theory is that it's because I find myself ugly. A couple of friends told me they look in the mirror nevertheless even though they think they are ugly. And yeah, people always tell me I look like a whole different person in pictures. Some people used to sort of think of me as a freak because of it. They always looked the same in pictures. Last weekend I was so relieved when my boyfriend showed me photos from his past, some were from last year and I was all "You don't look like this at all!" and he doesn't have DID ![]() Those have become more and more important for me nowadays... Sigh. The managing continues.

That is good to know!
![]() Well, Ts do see some pretty crazy people, but not all of them freak out by looking at the mirror or by finding car keys in the fridge or suddenly forget how to write or read. ![]()

I become very disoriented and confused when I look in the mirror. I now only look at my hair or my teeth depending what I am doing. I do not look at my eyes.

I've found my car keys in the refrigerator before!
I don't know how my BF feels about looking in the mirror...but there's a definite change of appearance when he switches. It's hard to describe because it's still the same guy, but each one looks different.

yeah - my face and eyes also change. As does my height and i have to adjust the car mirror and seat.
Funny tho - I get lost in mirrors - some of the alters just stare at their reflection for up to 30 minutes. Some think they are ugly and don't look at the mirrors. But i have found that when i switch (often at night when i am the only one awake, or by day if alone) the younger alters will stare into their own eyes because they are so different than mine. There are times when I don't recognize myself, or pass my reflection in a glass window on the street and have to do a double-take - yep; the relection is moving when I am, must be me. I also have pictures that are totally different. The one I just posted on my facebook I've never seen that person before. I have no idea who she is. But i like the image. Then some with my best friend who died, I can't recognize myself at all - my features are blurred, even tho the camera is not. Like I am in between ppl... in between worlds with him.

I always thought I was just a lil uncooridinated. When I look into a mirror I have a hard time telling my right from left. It is almost like im looking at someone else, when I see something on my left side in the mirror I see it as their right side so I try and move my right hand to take care of it. I know that sounds stupid, but perhaps it is related to this. It is never like Im looking at myself.
