From Monday 7th July, there will be two chats a week on "Coping with Dissociative Disorders" in the Support Chat room.

The times are Monday 10pm & Tuesday 8am, in site time.
If you click on the chats tab above, in the green bar, there is a time converter there.

For the initial chats we will propose a topic & discuss some definitions, before going to free chat. Please PM us with any topics you want to discuss, or bring them up in the chat.

The topic for the first week (both chats) is

"Depersonalization and Derealization and their effects on your life"

Good wishes zozo! I think one of the items on your list for the future is how to facilitate and not fear communication with the parts. Many of the posts here that show upset often stem from a lack of a communication within. Weekly Chats

What Are Grounding Skills?

Grounding Skills are interventions that assist in keeping a person in the present. They help to reorient a person to reality and the immediate here-and-now. Grounding skills are useful in many ways. They are particularly helpful with symptoms of dissociation. They can help a person prevent dissociating. However, they can be used to help re-orient oneself when experiencing intense and overwhelming feelings and intense anxiety. They help to regain one's mental focus.

What time zone is "site time" in? I would love to come to the grounding techniques chat, although I'm thinking I may have already missed it?

I've NEVER been in an internet chat room, so I feel kind of anxious about the whole thing.

Earthmama one DD chat is at 10pm EST Monday Ithink it's called (the time in the Eastern USA) and the other is on Tuesday at 8am EST.

And don't worry about them, the chats are really informal and it would be fine if you didn't want to talk but just watch Weekly Chats

I hope they will repeat these chats. I need to learn some of the things they are talking about.

I realized recently that fear of my hubs has kept many of my alters locked down and not allowed out to speak and I don't know what to do about it all. It really upsets me that He rejects DID and says it is not even possible. He thinks we're faking it. Both my daughter's know I am and see it, but he puts his silly head in the sand and stays workaholic busy. He's a fink!

Hi Zorah,

I'm new here. One topic I would like to talk about very much is "facilitating communication between alters".

I realized recently that I have kept many parts in lockdown because of fear of my spouse. He doesn't accept DID. He thinks I'm faking or using this to avoid getting on with my recovery and being fully responsible for my own life. I think that is just rotten and he is a fink.

However, he's also stayed with me for 28 years and is not a total fink.

I need some more tools to work together inside myself.

Sorry, didn't mean to dump my stuff on you, just wanted to say a topic.

Thanks, I'm glad I found this forum. I appreciate you reading my email.

These chats are for all dissociative disorders

DID is the far end of the spectrum for dissociative disorders

all DID members are welcome, naturally, but don't think all these chats are specifically meant for multiples, they are not

if we ever host a chat specifically for multiples we will announce that on this forum
