maybe you can get a check up at the hospital. They can help you figure out if its a medical problem and run some tests.

I was hospitalized for about 2 months while treating the malnutrition from not eating. My GP ran about $60,000. of tests & not much showed up except for a narrowing in my throat & the fact that my cortisol level was out of wack possibly causing the nausea. It actually turned out that it was from a trauma I had just gone through but everyone was quick to Dx it as anorexia until I finally fought it & am finally being treated for PTSD & anxiety (which was there prior to the trauma).

It is good to get the physical aspects checked out in the beginning because there are many physical things that can cause "not eating".

Take care,
Debbie

The suicide thing will never be a secret, promise.
What you do and say will affect everyone around you, trust me.
I know you wernt excepting that to happen.
But it took me quite a while to seek help and get therpy.
In about a couple of weeks.
Plus the amount of effort you put into it the more your get out of therpy. You not eating at tall, means that there's something wrong and I can't say that because I don't hardly eat a lot of anything. But I'm glad your getting and seeking help at the same time. Stay with us and we will point you in the right direction also.

I wasn't eating because I was feeling nausea constantly & when I would take a bite of food, it would just make it worse. I was at the point of completely not eating or drinking which started last December.......within a month, I was in the hospital with a PICC line & IV nutrition which got pulled within 24 hours due to a problem with the PICC line site (allergy reaction or infection). I left the hospital for a few days to be at my Mothers funeral & returned to the hospital a few days later to have a central line put in with IV nutrition. It too got infected but they gave finally gave me an antibiotic I wasn't allergic to & got it under control. I had issues I was trying to deal with that wasn't understood at the time that were causing the nausea which caused me to quit eating because I hate to get sick to my stomach.

The comment you made in your post " I refuse to eat when people try to make me" sounds like there may be a control issue you need to deal with. Not eating can be a control issue in itself. I know that when I couldn't control other things in my life, eating was always something I had under my control.....I could make my stomach feel not hungry too....that was a control issue too. I know the previous time I wasn't eating due to a reaction to several antidepressants I was on, I also had suicidal issues I was dealing with & it was also part of my thought process which also ties in with the control issues I had too.

It can be complicated & there can actually be medical reasons that are causing your problem......the whole picture needs to be looked at & no reasons should be discarded without it being checked. I appreciated my GP doing all the tests so I knew nothing seriously was wrong & what he found reinforsed what was really the problem since under the situation I was in, the cortisol levels are related to major stress & trauma reactions.

Good luck with your DR, & make sure that no stone is left unturned.....including your mental issues (including suicide....I know that logic myself), & anything physical.

I'm sure you will find some answers & therapy is something needed even if it is something physical because there is always a mental side to weight loss even if it is a physical cause.

Debbie
