I think I'm bulimic.

I try to resist, but I keep giving in. I don't want to be bulimic. I don't need more problems.

I just want people to understand me. Maybe give me concrete tips on how to resist the urge. It's obviously not enough to just tell me to stop because it's bad for me.

I'm sad I couldn't stop.

With most mental health issues, getting professional help is often the only way to change bad habits. You seem to not want to do that, though, and instead are relying on amateurs. So, I don't know what it is you're really asking for.

I will be the first to admit that I don't understand you, but I'm willing to be supportive as long as you are serious about changing your bad habits.

Greenleaves, I think I understand. I have been experiencing what could be called 'disordered eating' for the past four months or so, but I don't believe it's too serious, and I don't think it warrants getting help, and so I continue with it because I'm not ready to stop/...

confinding in someone you trust is always a good place to start or when you get the urge try to find something to distract you, weather it be going for a walk or drive or writing your feelings down

Hi, I dont think im the best person to tell you how to stop what your doing and not become bulimic but i might be able to help. Right now i think im as bulimic and i can get and it scares me, but i wasn't always this way. i used to be really healthy. I set up a meal plan for the whole week and i ate everything that was on the plan. i also had a point system. For example a meal like lunch or supper was two points and a small snack like an apple was one point. At the end of the day i added up the points and had to workout just as much as i ate according to a point system that i gave different workouts. Tae-bo was 3 points, running 10 minutes was 2 points walking 10 minutes was 1 point and so on. I dont know if that would help you but it used to work for me. I actually lost weight too. I'm 5'4" and i was 119 pounds when i did that. People even asked me if i was anorexic, but i wasn't then.

That's an interesting idea...I wouldn't know what points to give what foods though...

I'm actually looking into Tae bo. Which do you recommend?

Right now I'm about 115 and I'm 4'11" according to my doctor. I could lose about 20 pounds.

I can and do throw up. Once in a while I cannot throw up for some reason. I think I'm threshold bulimic because I've been doing it for some time now.

The first time I did this was a couple of years ago and I'm still doing it today.

I've told my pdoc about it. They don't help me. They just tell me to stop.

By posting here I was hoping to find some ways to resist the urge. I know there are others struggling with bulimia here and I want to find out what helped them.

I just don't understand why there is so much hostility against me. I'm not a troll. I'm for real. If you don't believe me, PM me and I'll give you my phone number. Call me...hear my pain.

I just wonder if people would treat me so harshly if this was real life...

If I am lying or trying to upset people on purpose, may lightening strike me down.

Greenleaves - your pdoc is not necessarily the right person to help you with this.

Do an internet search for Eating Disorders + the name of your city. Or bulimia + city. Or call your hospital and ask what programs they have to help bulimics.

I don't think you should take a chance with your health. It seems cavalier to not take this concern seriously enough to call a professional.

My pain is real. I'm sitting here crying because of what some people have written to me.

I don't know why people don't want to support me. I don't know why I've upset people. Why? Why?

Greenleaves, you received a lot of support in this thread and in others. Why are you upset right now? What's going on?

I kinda gave foods different point systems based on how much food was there, not by the calories. For example a piece of pizza and carrots (one meal) was 2 points and carrots alone was 1 point. A piece of cake might be 2 points though because i know its not healthy. It does't really matter what point value you give the foods. Its basically to make you aware of how much and what you are eating.

As for tae-bo i really dont know which one would be the best for you. maybe if some of your friends do it you could borrow the tape from them just to try it out before you get it yourself. other than that i think that the tae-bo bootcamp dvds are really nice because they have a variety of different ones that target different areas. It also makes the workout more fun to have a differnent workout everyday instead of the same one.

If you're looking for help assigning values to foods, GL, check with your local Diabetes Association. You can also order a booklet from the American Diabetic Association. It's actually not a bad idea, because it gives amounts -- you'd be surprised how often what you consider "one portion" is actually three or four -- or more -- of the actual portion sizes you're looking for. Often, just cutting back to, say, four starch portions and four protein portions, with two fat portions in one meal (yes, that would be about one meal there) can help you lose weight.

You can google the ADA to order their booklet. Here's a hint, though: I ordered both booklets, the regular and the pocket sized? I only use the pocket size, which I keep in my purse.

Just click on her username... at the bottom of the screen will be an option for "Stop Ignoring This User".

If you don't have her on Ignore in the first place, you'll see "Ignore This USer"
