I'm told this is a bad business to be in, ... I don't have an ED, but I'm curious to know whether y'all have maybe gotten worse because of calorie-counting. I have issues with my weight. I've had issues with food, in the past. I guess you could say I knocked on the front door of an ED. I'm just SLIGHTLY concerned that me being so gung-ho about fitness is gonna get out of control. It was really my dad's worry, ... he brought it up a couple of days ago, and I guess it's kinda got me paranoid, now. (I have OCD, as well, and that doesn't help)

Ed sucks. It's like having another person in your head. At least for me. It is a way I can control something anything. But anyways that's just me.

Being aware that you knocked on the front door will help. Then you can tell when your going to far. Calorie counting and exercise to be healthier is good if it doesn't get out of control.

Do you have anyone who can keep you accountable to keep you from falling into it? Like someone at the gym? Or a therapist?

Calorie-counting for most people, especially if you've danced along the line of a possible ED, is a very very dangerous road.

For example: I recovered from an ED three years ago, but my anatomy teacher during our digestive system unit gave us an assignment where we had to count all our calories (and other nutrients too) for a few days. That was enough to make me relapse. Because I got obsessed with how many calories I was eating, even though I was a healthy weight.

If you want to lose weight to be more healthy, then exercise and make healthy food choices. But do not, I repeat, DO NOT start counting calories.
I'm sorry if it sounded like I was yelling there, I just know how dangerous it is to do that, and how easy it is to become obsessed with it.

I hope you are able to find your niche, my friend. And I sincerely hope it is a healthy one. Good luck!

Oh yes, I totally agree, please DON'T start on the calorie counting. I started my ''diets'' over 30 years ago and I'm still a slave to dieting and calorie counting. I've had every ED imaginable and life has been a nightmare both for me and my family. I'm STILL fighting anorexia and bulima today. XXXXXXXXXXXXXX HUGS.

Oh yes, absolutely agree. I went on a ''diet'' over 30 years ago and I've had every ED imaginable. I've been in the Psych unit many times due to anorexia and bulimia. I've STILL fighting my ED's today, so don't go there PLEASE. HUGS. xxxxxxxxxxx
