I'm really fat. I both love and hate food. I feel so disgusting. Of course themore disgusting I feel, the more I want to seek comfort in food and the cycle is exhausting.

I'm sorry that you feel so disgusted by your weight.I have been where you are and I know how hard it is to take control of what you eat and to motivate yourself to exercise. You should see your doctor and maybe he can recommend a diet. Unfortunately you are the only one who can really help you, but know that you are not alone. Good Luck to you and keep me posted. i would like to know how you are doing.

Me too. I'm so heavy and my back is bad so I can't really exercise. I'm very upset and I don't know what to do. Water exercise, well, I won't be seen like this. Just couldn't.

I still sometimes get in the trap of emotional comfort eating even though I despi it.

For the last few days I've kept a giant bowl of fruit in the fridge.

Every time I feel the urge i stuff my face full of grapes. And full of grapes half an hour later if I have to.

I know it's no comparison to the cake that I do like to indulge in.

But for now I'm ok.

I'm trying to overcome the love hate relationship so I'm comfortable with what I consume.

I won't deprive myself completely. Will still be having cake.

Just every now and again.

I still have a good and bad relationship with food, mostly because I'm not eating much at all or nothing really some days. Because of it I have lost quite a lot (still highly overweight), but because I don't eat enough I can't take my pain meds either or I throw up.

I am jut coming out of a 5 month long binge cycle of stuffing my face full of everything. Seriously, I spent so much money on good, was even shoplifting food again. It was bad. I wish I could tell you the secret cure but unfortunately I go from one extreme to the other. Both feel so good to me. I still do get highly tempted though. Seeing food is a trigger, someone mentioning a cupcake is a trigger... I am triggering myself now. All I can give you is distract, distract yourself like crazy (healthily... I am prone to go to worse things than food). Do what you can to keep your mind occupied and not focused on food. And when the craving comes, do anything. Go for a walk even if it's just around the house, brush your teeth, if you have pets or kids they are good distractions... Tho triggers as well sometimes. God I know it's hard. I have been in the obese category and I didn't want to leave the house at all.. I just had to force myself. I can't work out at home I need to be at a gym, and being out in the real world, with real people is so helpful. And while you are working out you can release at least some bad emotions, even if you can only walk for 15 minutes at a time, slowly you will get better.

There are good ideas here, thanks. But my back is so bad I'm lucky if I can walk (around my apartment) for 3 minutes. I feel so hopeless.

Have you seen a doctor/chiropractor about it, or considered wearing a garment that reduces the weight load on your back?

No, I wasn't referred to anything by that awful clinic. I looked into a back brace and even though Medicare covers it, it was $1000 or so and I thought that was kind of crazy. Also I don't know if I'd realistically use it. I'm just not sure.

Then you should go to another clinic if possible. And if that back brace works you could get good use out of it. You could start going on walks and then move on to more intense forms of exercise.
Thanks for this!

Yes, maybe I should really rethink it. Thank you.

You're welcome. Btw, this manufacturer has back braces for much cheaper prices: Back Braces and Supports - Free Shipping and Easy Returns
I don't know if any of those would work for you, but hopefully a doctor can help you find an affordable back brace.
Thanks for this!
