For a while (since 2 years ago I think) Ive been restricting food. Since last november ive been throwing up after my meals (sometimes) or even just a snack. I also started counting calories and making sure i have below 1000. I hate the way I look, Im fat and gross and need to loose weight... I know theres a "healthy" way but this seems the right way to me...

sorry I just needed to say something

hi there... welcome to PC...

have you given any thought to talking to a doctor or therapist about this? sounds like some pretty harmful stuff going on...

(don't want to scare you,, but throwing up can cause some serious damage to your body.. speaking from personal experience here - the acid.. not to mention the way it erodes your teeth)

Restricting too much.. defeats the purpose of losing weight - makes the body "rob" from muscles - also personal experience..

And you are right there are healthy ways of losing weight - that are effective...what you're doing.. isn't "healthy"....

Sincerely, fw

sounds like an eating disorder from where im standing. best to see a doctor, this sort of stuff catches up with your body, even if you dont notice, or havnt got serious health problems now, it could still give you them in future, which i have seen first hand

Hello and welcome to Psych Central. I agree you need to seek therapy for yur disorder, but you also need a more nutritious diet and exercise program to follow as well. The american Diabetes Assiciation has diets that you can follow and also has siets for Hypoglycemia which I follow when I am having sugar problems. The Good thing about the Hypoglycemia Diet is that you eat less food but you eat 5-6 times per day so that you are not consuming a large amount of calories at one time and the stress on your ystem is less. Take care Lilah. I will try to catch you in chat soon. PM anytime. Soidhonia

Sometimes it's helpful to see a nutritionist (most hospitals have licensed nutritionists who will also see outpatients). They can give you a healthy diet for maintaining a healthy weight. It would also be good to speak with your physician or a therapist.

Im still struggling.

During these past 3 years I have switched schools and had 3 more hospital visits. The last one being July 2008.

Yet these days Im struggling with restricting and purging a lot more like I used to...
