For the past 5mths I've experienced OVERWHELMING urges to eat and even when I'm not hungry, I will just eat until I get so sick that I can't move. At first I thought it was a side effect of the new meds I was on but it just seemed to get worse and food became all I could think about, especially at night when I put my kids to bed. I go straight for the cookies and chips and chocolate. I feel so guilty afterwards I 'd cry myself to sleep. I thought it was because I
didn't have will power, I didn't even know until I talked to my doctor that Binge Eating was an actual ED. Hopefully I can overcome this but reading some of the issues it sounds so hard. Any tips on how to start? I'm starting to see a therapist, but I need to figure out the triggers and I just don't know where to begin.

((((((spatton))))))) I already said welcome -but welcome again, glad you found us!

Well, first I'm glad you talked to your doctor and you have a therapist. Those are both big (good) steps to take!

Sometimes it takes a while to figure out some triggers, and sometimes we might never know all of them ... sometimes it's because of past incidents (mostly from childhood) or it's a way to deal with stress or depression.

There are a lot of good resources out there that might be able to help... I'll try to track some down for you.

Edit: So I looked around... really, some of the best resources are in the pinned topic in the main forum for Eating Disorders... links to websites that other members have posted.

I hope you manage to get the help you deserve Whyyy can't i get this right??

its gotta be hard with kids in your home, but if you do know those trigger foods, kick them outta the house for a while! Once you remember what it feels like to say no to them, you'll be empowered to stop the over eating. (Mine are oreos and chocolate ice cream.)

I also like to keep a tally of what i eat.. that way im concious of how much of whats going in, and i make sure im not over doing it. (seeing a nutritionist about that would be a good way to go, to make sure you get enough of what you need) if you need any health tips, you can hit me up.. in a nutrition major in school.
