Antidepressants are a great solution if you can take them. I have so many side effects from them including the lack of appitite that only makes the matter worse. It was actually taking of antidepressants that triggered my anorexia the last time. There are other meds for those of us who can't take the antidepressants like periactin that also act as appitite enhancers. Both psychiatrists & MD's know about these meds & can prescribe them assuming that the person is going to a Dr in the first place.

Anti depressants CAN BE great, but only if they work.

One size does not fit all, and it can feel as if we're failing in our recovery if something that has helped one person does not work for us. Another failure is the last thing we need while we're trying to recover.

I'm glad that ADs have helped you, though. They have been somewhat helpful to me in the past, too, although they always led to enormous weight gains, which ended up making me feel as bad as the depression had.
